They say it takes Dosh to make Dosh, right? That is SO true in the tailoring biz! Materials and tools are ex-PEN-sive! But there are lots of ways to earn Dosh in this Life. You can gather materials and sell them... Or you can use them to make cloth, and then sell THAT... Or you can use them to make clothes, and then you can sell the clothes! You'll be rolling in the Dosh before you even know it. Now, THAT'S good business sense.

The smartest Tailors are the ones who gather their own materials out in the field. It's just crazy to spend your hard-earned Dosh on materials you can get for free, you know?

What's up, [Player]? Glad to see you today. I've got a gift for you! Yeah, I went out on a little material-gathering expedition and came back fully stocked! As a matter of fact, I managed to bring home a little extra for you and Taylor. No need to pay me for it. Your Dosh is no good here! Hee hee! Think of it as a token of my appreciation. All you have to do is ambush one of the spiders that produces Pink-Silk Thread, and you're golden!

Those spiders I was talking about are called Arachnes. According to legend, the spiders used to be beautiful seamstresses. But they were cursed! Now they live in the Subterranean Lake making beautiful silk but never seeing the light of day.
