Tale of the Goddess
Script (52 lines)
ButterflySo this is the famous Goddess Statue I've heard so
much about, eh?
GrampsNo, my winged friend. This is the Goddess Statue.
Butterfly...Pretty sure I just said that.
GrampsHa ha... Why, yes, I do believe in kismet.
GrampsI think kismet may have brought us both together to
view the Goddess at this very moment.
GrampsWould you like to hear a story about the Goddess,
my chatty, hovering friend?
ButterflyActually, we're kind of busy right now, so if—
GrampsIt begins in the olden times. Back before you were
born. Before I was born. Before dirt was born.
Butterfly...And what year was dirt born, exactly?
GrampsAbout two years before needless snark...
GrampsAnyway, Reveria had fallen prey to great corruption
and decay. Its citizens had all lost the will to work!
GrampsTheir world fell into disarray. But a few people
pleaded to the Goddess. She heard their wishes—
ButterflyAnd the Goddess heard their wishes and saved them
all because that's what Goddesses do, right?
GrampsNot really, my sharp-tongued flutterer. Perhaps
you would benefit from listening before you speak.
GrampsYou see, the Goddess grew tired of granting
individual wish after individual wish...
Grampsso she came up with the brilliant idea of giving her
people the power to fulfill each other's wishes!
GrampsShe knew that if her people would just dedicate
their time to creating rather than wishing...
Grampsthey could help one another achieve...well, anything
they wanted!
GrampsThe Goddess knew the key was to help each person
find something that he or she loved to do.
GrampsSo she created a variety of things that would help
people find their passion, to find their—
ButterflyTheir Life! You're talking about taking up a Life!
GrampsYes, my interruptive scaly wing! She taught Reverians
how to fulfill one another by pursuing a Life.
ButterflyThat's why some call her the Life Goddess!
GrampsNo...that's why some call her the Life Goddess.
Shame. Seems to be fewer and fewer people
working toward their wishes these days...
ButterflyWhy do you—*ahem* WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS?!
GrampsBecause fewer and fewer youngsters are taking up a
Life these days. It's all happening again, you see.
ButterflyBut people still have wishes! They just have to know
their wishes matter, right?
ButterflyIf everyone felt every Life would help fulfill every
other Life, the wishes would be endless!
GrampsYes, my optimistic lepidopteran! You sound just like
the great Goddess herself!
ButterflyYeah, well...it's just a matter of showing everyone the
power of their wishes!
ButterflyMaybe I should go on a wish-collecting mission!
ButterflyIf you had one wish, [Player], what would it be?
ButterflyWhat about you, Gramps? What would your wish be?
GrampsOh, I'm an old man, my keenly mottled invertebrate.
My days of wishing are well behind me.
ButterflyWhat?! Don't say that!
ButterflyYou can't stop wishing! Ever!
ButterflyThis is great! I'm gonna hear wishes from all sorts of
people! I want to hear everyone's wishes!
GrampsThat's quite the ambitious task, my flappy, flappy,
flying friend.
GrampsIf you think you can help someone with a wish, you
shouldn't hesitate to lend a hand!
ButterflyDon't you want to know what my wish is?
GrampsOh, how rude of me, my talkative, airborne insect!
What would your wish be?
ButterflyIt's a secret! HA!
GrampsThat is no secret... That is a cruel trick, my butterfly.
GrampsLet me recover from that, and perhaps I can come
up with a wish of my own for you.
GrampsIn the meantime, please take this as a gift, my little
piece of discursive, floating animalia.
GrampsMay the Goddess watch over you and help you
achieve a most fulfilling Life.
ButterflyYikes. I hope I didn't offend the ol' guy too much.
ButterflyI'm sure he'll get over it. I've got a few places on my
agenda that I'm itching to visit. Wanna join me?
ButterflyWhaddya say?
[Choice: OK / Nah...]
ButterflyGreat! Let's get a move on!
ButterflyOh, come on! Do I have to stop giving you a choice?Head to the Goddess Statue
