FernSorry, friend. I'm not one to chat. Not unless we got business with one another. But I've got a feeling that someday, the time will come for me to talk to you about Life as a Hunter.

FernDo you want to know more about Life as a Hunter? Feel free to look around my house. You'll see my equipment. Best bow and arrows in all of Reveria.

FernKeep up the good work. If you don't, I might just dismiss you as my student. Hmm. Sorry. Maybe that was a bit stern. Still, I do expect you to keep improving yourself.

FernSorry, friend. I'm busy at the moment.

FernHunters rely most on Dexterity, given we must fire off arrows quickly and accurately. But we also draw from our Strength and Focus to help our arrows fly fierce and true. Most of all, however, we trust our instincts. Knowing when to fight and fly is crucial.

FernI rely most on my Dexterity as a Hunter. As will you. But don't neglect your Strength and Focus.

FernHave you heard about the Bounty Clerks yet? They'll give you rewards for defeating certain creatures. Which ones? You'll know if you've got a Bounty after you take down some rare beasts. It'll appear in a crate—and then you'll need to haul it to one of those clerks for your reward. Why don't you hunt the Killer Bunny of the West Grassy Plains and then claim its Bounty? As long as you haven't already come face to face with the Killer Bunny, that is! Its name is silly, but it's quite wily. I think you'll want to use the Scattershot technique during your hunt.

FernThe Killer Bunny is hard to track down, given that it comes out rarely—and only at night. There are many other rare beasts out there that will bring a handsome Bounty. And when you claim the money, you might get valuable materials from the Bounty Clerk too.

FernWell done, Hunter. You made Adept Hunter. Now, though I hesitate to teach new techniques... I think you've proven responsible enough to know how to unleash Arrow Rain. I'd worry about teaching it to Pete, but even you could hurt yourself if you're not careful.

FernI look forward to these chats, but ultimately you'll learn more from nature than from me. So go on more hunts, and see for yourself what Life as a Hunter has to show you.

FernNicely done, Hunter. You made Expert. That's a bigger achievement than you may realize. I live a solitary Life, so I'm not a very good teacher. You've come far doing so much on your own. Did I ever mention that Fletcher was my teacher? I must have seemed like such a greenhorn. But I learned much, at least until he became a guard at the royal garden—and soon after left Castele. That reminds me, Expert Hunter... It's time I teach you something new.

FernFletcher really was an excellent Master. I hope I'm half as good a teacher for you. You might be able to find Fletcher on the Grassy Plains now and then—it's his home these days.

FernExtraordinary—you've achieved MY rank. You're a Master Hunter now. There is still much even we can learn, however, so keep hunting—and help those who need it. Now you've proven yourself more than worthy of a Hunter attack only we Masters know.

FernWe share much in common, being so devoted to the Hunter's path. You'll be a Hero before long.

FernYou know that I tend to keep my emotions on a tight rein, Hunter. It's just my way. But I'm just too proud to keep this to myself: I am SO happy to see you become a Hero! What sort of hunt is worthy of you now? Well, let me suggest the Shadow Bigbeak. Ooh! I hope you haven't met up with that beastie yet. You haven't, have you? Legend has it that that giant bird can be found only on a small island somewhere—sealed away. I'd strongly suggest you prepare for such an incredible hunt, my friend.

FernThe Shadow Bigbeak is sealed in a dark void—one they say you can reach from Cacto Cove. I have to admit I have nothing more I can offer to help you prepare for this hunt. Good luck.

FernYou've done me proud. I couldn't have wished for a better student. You inspire me. When I was a student, I told my Master I wanted to be as great as he was—and even better. He said nothing to that, which I thought was odd. Then one day he simply vanished on me. I was bothered by that until recently, but now because of you, I understand why he left. If I wanted to be a Hunter of Hero rank or even Legend rank, I had to find another way. I'd reached the point where I needed to help many people, not please a teacher. My Master knew that. Now I do too, thanks to all the help you give people. I'd love to tell my old Master about you. But knowing him, he likely knows of you already...

FernI'm very proud of you. Now continue to help those around you, and keep listening to nature.

FernI've heard you've taken up a new challenge. I'm proud of you—and a bit envious too. Pete's doing his best to follow your example. I hoped that would happen. Who knows? You may far surpass your Master! Now, here's something in recognition of your success.

FernThe path ahead of you may be difficult, but I have faith that you'll persevere. After all, you're the best student I've ever had. If you can't do it, who can?

FernExtraordinary! You made Creator rank. I've never even dreamed of achieving such a thing. You've inspired me once more. Now I'll aim even higher in Life, thanks to you.

FernI'd love to visit Origin Island. It would be the culmination of all my efforts as a Hunter. You might consider taking Pete with you when you go there—he'd be very happy to see it.

FernLet's take a look at your hunts.

FernIt seems you have nothing new to report. But do tell me when you finish more challenges.

FernWell done, earning that Apprentice rank. I look forward to many more hunting achievements. The Life of a Hunter can be dangerous, so be careful out there as you keep growing.

FernExcellent work earning that Adept rank. You know, if there's one thing I've learned in this Life... it's that there's always room for improvement. But I have faith you'll be even better soon!

FernRemarkable, my student. You're already an Expert Hunter. You impress me. Your skills have truly developed. I can only imagine how much further you'll grow!

FernYou've developed into a Master Hunter! I hope you realize how far you've come in this Life. When I first met you, I had a feeling you'd quickly learn how to listen to nature. Life as a Hunter is not just being good with a bow. It's learning to be IN nature—not just take from it. Though greater achievements are ahead of you, we should do something to acknowledge this moment. For while you can aim even higher, you've hit an important mark today. Now let's celebrate.

FernYou're a Hero Hunter now, which means people far and wide will speak of your deeds. But what does it really mean to be a Hero? We must all discover that for ourselves. Never forget—we Hunters have a partnership with nature. We must respect it fully. Now I would suggest you report your Hero rank to the king. There is a reward, I hear. You've made me quite proud, Hunter.

FernSo you're a Legendary Hunter now... Few ever achieve such a thing. It means you've mastered the bow, of course, but more importantly, you live this Life well. Be sure to report this to King Erik. I've heard he likes to meet such well-accomplished Hunters. Now, if you continue to live in harmony with nature, surely you'll be legendary!

FernYou're still a Fledgling, but if you pursue more hunts, you'll surely grow soon.

FernYou remain an Apprentice for now. But given more hunts, you'll rank up soon enough.

FernYour hunting has improved, but you're still an Adept for now. Keep up the good work.

FernYou're still an Expert Hunter for now, but if you keep at your hunts, you'll rank up before long.

FernYou remain a Master Hunter for now. If you keep up your hunts, you'll surpass even that.

FernHave you told King Erik you've reached Hero rank? It's been a while since anyone did that. So please tell him at once. I suspect he'll have a reward for you, Hunter.

FernThere's still much for you to experience out there in the world, Hunter. Surely you're already dreaming of your next quest. Before you go anywhere, however... I'd suggest you go immediately to the king. He wants to reward you for your accomplishments. What kind of reward? Well, just his thanks should be enough—but I suspect it's more than that.

FernWhat can I do for you? [Choice: Report / Chat / Nothing]

FernIt's quite late, but what can I do for you? [Choice: Report / Chat / Nothing]

FernLooks like you're not focusing on being a Hunter right now. Come back when you are, all right?

FernOh...it's you, [Player]. What? No, nothing's wrong. Not exactly. But I do wonder if you can help with this. I've gotten an order from the king, you see. It's all very secret—so I really shouldn't say anything. A fearsome creature, the Typhoon Bird, has been seen around Tortuga Archipelago. It's said to be so terrifying that even Port Puerto's pirates flee the winged fiend. Legend has it that the Typhoon Bird comes to Reveria in the wake of a storm. That creature has been the nemesis of us Hunters since—well, forever. You haven't seen it yet, right? The king has asked me to stop it, but I cannot do this alone. Would you help me? Take as much time as you need to consider it. Speak to me again—if you'd like to learn more.

FernWhat shall we talk about, [Player]? [Choice: Special Request / Chat / Nothing]

FernSo you've given the matter of the Typhoon Bird some thought. Would you help me defeat it? [Choice: Let's do it / Sorry, no]

FernI knew I could count on you, [Player]. The Typhoon Bird has appeared somewhere on Tortuga Archipelago. Bring back a [Name 2] as proof after you've defeated the fierce creature. I'll be glad to go on this hunt, if you want me to. This will be a difficult quest—even for you.

FernFair enough. I'll pursue this hunt on my own for now. Let me know if you change your mind.

FernIs...is that a [Name 2]? You've done the impossible, [Player]!

FernI can't believe you defeated the Typhoon Bird. Generations of Hunters have tried—and failed! Ah, excuse me for getting a little excited. Of course, I never doubted you could do it. Still, I worried for your safety. I can't thank you enough for helping with the king's mission. Now, here's something I'd like to give you as a memento—a couple curious coins. Lucky found them. I haven't any idea what they're for. Maybe you'll find a use for them?

FernIf you ever feel like taking on this request again, just come and speak to me. If it's any incentive, I've still got a few of those strange coins lying around...

FernThe Typhoon Bird has arrived somewhere on Tortuga Archipelago. It could be anywhere there. Stay vigilant for a change in the wind. Of course, I will help you however I can. Just speak to me if you need me.

FernWhat? You don't feel ready to challenge the Typhoon Bird? [Choice: Not now / I'm ready]

FernThe Typhoon Bird is incredibly powerful, but I'm sure you have the skill to defeat it. It seems it has now arrived on Tortuga Archipelago. It could be roaming anywhere there, so stay vigilant for a change in the wind. Of course, I will help you however I can. Just speak to me if you need me.

FernFair enough. I'll pursue this hunt on my own for the time being. Let me know if you change your mind.
