MustangA Paladin is, by definition, a fearless and selfless hero who has pledged service to Castele. Indeed, even in the face of terrible monsters and overwhelming odds, Paladins show no fear. There's a saying. "The only thing to fear is fear itself. And Captain Mustang." Memorize it!

MustangThere are 17 things that bring me joy. The first is to see my enemy defeated in battle. The second is to hear the sweet chirping of the birds come springtime. The third...er...how much free time do you have at the moment, soldier? Very well, we'll resume this conversation at a more convenient time. Just know that seeing young Paladins like you succeed is somewhere on the list. Around number 14, I believe.

MustangThis hold is the base of our operations. From here we can survey and protect all of Reveria. Anytime you step outside these doors, be sure to keep your wits about you. Er...it's important to keep them about you while you're still in here too.

MustangI see you are persistent. That is commendable. However, I have no new information for you. It would serve you well to venture forth and apply that persistence...er...somewhere else.

MustangIn addition to being one of the most decorated Paladins in history, Sir Gladstone is...well... He's one of the most decorated Woodcutters, Tailors, Cooks, Miners... Well, to put it simply, the man has mastered every known Life! He has a lot of wisdom to offer...

MustangWell! It seems you have been hard at work. Most excellent! Tell me, have you found the Luminaire technique to be of use during battle? Continue practicing. Using that very technique, I was once able to subdue a rampaging Napdragon!

MustangWhat's that? You're curious about my legendary battle with the Napdragon? Well, have a seat, my young friend. It is a tale as fascinating as it is long. It all began on my ninth birthday. I was a precocious lad, already obsessed with swordplay and strategy... That very year, my dear aunt Katherine gifted me a genuine soldier's—oh, I'm sorry. You don't have time for this, do you? Well, let's just say...it was a draw. As for how my sword ended up inside the Napdragon's belly...well...I'd rather not say.

MustangYou are moving up the ranks quickly, soldier. So I believe the time is right for a gentle reminder... We, as Paladins, fight to protect the citizens of Castele. We do not wage our own battles. We have a word for those who would fight for Dosh or personal glory: Mercenaries. Now, there is nothing wrong with being a Mercenary. Fact is, there are times when I wish I was one. But we are a peacekeeping order...an order of discipline. Do keep that in mind.

MustangLong ago, there was a supremely talented Paladin recruit. This soldier's abilities rivaled my own. Surpassed them, even, in certain situations. I was confident this soldier would one day be my Master...and in a way, that has held true.

MustangWell done, Paladin. Today you have accomplished something extraordinary. You are a Master! Remember, with the Master-level distinction comes a whole new level of responsibility. Think of yourself as a role model for younger Paladins. And for the citizens of Castele at large. And above all...remain modest! We wouldn't want anyone mistaking you for a Mercenary, would we? Please accept a small gift, cobbled together from the humble Paladin coffers. One final note. You now have my permission to begin growing a mustache.

MustangNow that you're a Master Paladin, I can share certain...secrets...with you. For example...I can now teach you my devastating Stache 'n' Slash technique. Bwahaha! The actual secret I'll share with you today is that I possess a devastating sense of humor.

MustangSome call me the Guardian of Castele. Others call me...well...a certain mustache-related name. But never mind that! The question is...what will people call you? Will they call you Dragonslayer? For today, I offer a formidable challenge... There exists a ferocious beast whose mere breath can level an army. It is called the Shadow Dragon. I challenge you to slay this beast, if you haven't done so already. Are you up to the task?

MustangThe best advice I can dispense with regards to defeating the Shadow Dragon? Avoid its breath. This is not a mere suggestion. This is a requirement if you value your Life! May your sword strike true and your resolve hold fast. Good luck!

MustangHail, Legend! Please forgive any forthcoming awkwardness on my part... I am not used to speaking with a more highly ranked Paladin than myself! Of course, technically I am still your Master. But you are clearly one of the greats. In fact, it is possible that you are the greatest Paladin Reveria has ever seen! Although...there exists another who may hold some claim to that title...

MustangAre you familiar with the tale of the two Paladins? Well, allow me to enlighten you! Many years ago, two promising Paladin recruits fought at young King Erik's side... In the course of battle they distinguished themselves among the greatest warriors Castele had to offer. However, one of the two Paladins clearly performed at a higher level. And the other one was me! This heroic Paladin was wearing a visored helm, making identification impossible. Speak not a word of this...but I believe the second Paladin may have been Queen Ophelia!

MustangWell, well! It appears you have accepted a particularly daunting challenge! Of course, for a Paladin of your caliber...perhaps it will be child's play. Nevertheless, you must know that your fellow Paladins ride with you in spirit. Onward to valor!

The creature has remained in a semidormant state for years. Minding its own business, as it were. This, of course, has led the citizens of Castele to assume the creature itself is benign. This is not the case. In years past, many brave Paladins waged battles against the creature, only to fall in battle. It wasn't until Sir Gladstone subdued the Napdragon that it became...er...sleepy, for lack of a better word. In any case, reports of aggressive behavior have been on the rise. I fear the Napdragon is coming out of its slumber and returning to its old ways! I believe with your incredible strength and courage, we might be rid of the beast once and for all.
