Pardon me. What IS that tantalizing smell? A Carrot Soup, unless I'm mistaken.

I must be allowed a sip now. My nose tells me it's a soup that has no equal.

The mere scent is inspiring. I must cook at once. What dish might be worthy of such a soup...?

May I use the kitchen for a moment?

...Now a pinch of this...and then a dash of that...

Yes, of course. What Cook doesn't? Now a little more spice for the special sauce...

And, voilà, a sassy flip of the patty to finish it off. You see? Quite simple, really.

What else? A Royal Hamburger. Now can you do me the great honor of tasting it?

Breadworthy? Oh, I see. I've forgotten the bun. Well, I should have one in my pockets...

I see, I see. The local kitchen lingo. Fascinating. I'll use that in my own culinary parlance.

Good eye, Sizzle. That is the royal emblem.

Indeed it is. I am the new Cook at the castle. My name is Allan.

Please, I don't measure up to your excellence, Chef. I am but a culinary wanderer.

No, Sizzle. Good buzz. Everyone at the castle can't stop talking about this bistro.

That may be. But they come here. In disguise.

Certainly not. But I swear to you, Alfredo, you have big fans at the castle.

I never fib about food. In fact, the good buzz about your bistro has reached HIS ears.

Alfredo, please. Calm yourself. If you'll only let me get a word in, I'll tell you!

The king himself. Of course.

Alfredo? Are you all right?

What a shame. I've come to learn one of his specialties. So I can make it for the king.

I'll come back when he's back on his feet.

...Ah.

I declare it the finest and fluffiest omelet I have ever eaten! Hurrah!

I agree! But...what an evaluation! You could taste all of that with one bite?!

Oh my! Then you must be—

How extraordinary. Do you realize who that was?

That was Pedro—Port Puerto's greatest chef!

The very same. He's said to have a highly developed sense of taste.

I wish I'd realized it sooner, or that I hadn't clammed up when I did.

But, you, my new friend... You were incredible in the kitchen. What an omelet!

The sound of you cooking back there was like music to my ears.

You are new to this, are you not? Such raw talent inspires me to greater heights!

I must aim to be the best chef the castle has ever seen. Now I should thank you...

How about some recipes? I'm no Pedro, but I do know a thing or two about cooking meat.

I suppose we're rivals, since cooking can get competitive. But I look forward to your work.

I'd better report back to the castle.

What did Sizzle say goes into the Finest Fluffy Omelet? That's right: Chicken Eggs, Cows' Milk, and Vine-Ripened Tomatoes. Tomatoes are hard to come by. I don't think you can buy them in the Shopping District. As for the other two ingredients...Sizzle knows a chicken and a cow. How convenient!

I'm just a Cook in training, but my dream is to become a first-class chef. It'll take a lot of work!

I went shopping and got this, that, and that other thing for a special little dish for our lovely king.

The king praised the food I made for him, and my chest swelled with pride!

That dish... I was completely defeated! How it crushed me. How it made me despair! I am not giving up, though. Having a worthy rival in your person only motivates me to try harder!

Do you think that Dexterity is the most important for us Cooks? You're a rookie, so you may guess so. It is important, certainly, and so is Intelligence. But the MOST important thing is Focus. Don't forget!

With only Dexterity and Intelligence you'll be a half- baked Cook. You need Focus most of all!

I heard about your becoming an Apprentice Cook. News of your progress keeps me on my toes. You should visit Pedro's restaurant in Port Puerto. It's called Cocina Rica. He has some interesting techniques that I think you may find helpful.

Even the simplest, commonest dishes can be fun to make once you master them. Pedro of Port Puerto was the Cook who first discovered the joys of automaking!

An Adept Cook already? Curse my frying pan! You're climbing the ranks quickly, oh rival of mine! If you need assistance or merely company while gathering ingredients, don't hesitate to ask me. I would HATE it if you lost to me because of lack of ingredients rather than my superior skill.

As you gain more experience in the kitchen and expand your menu, getting ingredients gets harder. Let us help each other with ingredient hunts in the spirit of friendly rivalry!

So it has come to this! You, an Expert! Well, I suppose I can show you this, then. The royal head chef shared a special craft with me. I will share it with you too.

One day I will definitely become the head chef and serve King Erik. It is a dear dream of mine.

I have some info to share with you now that you're a Hero Cook. You know of rare Truffles? I've heard there is a really good spot for them somewhere in the Elderwood. Check it out.

Truffles and Duffles look almost exactly the same. Both grow in the heart of the Elderwood. But don't mistake one for the other!

As expected of a Cook whom I considered my rival... I knew one day you'd become a Legend. Good work. Guess what? I am running the next banquet at the castle! My dream is about to come true!
