Tale of Lunares: Chapter Four

OHHH, DAMIEENNNNN!
I knew it! You were reading the hearts of common rabble again, weren't you?
I will hear no more of this nonsense!
These are wolves in sheep's clothing! Damien, you know you can't trust anyone from Castele!
That insolent King Erik is responsible for banishing your father!
And they are now looking for reasons to blame their problems on the people of Al Maajik!
NOT LONG ENOUGH!
I will not allow you to dishonor the memory of your father by dealing with these barbarians! What is the Will of the Fathers? Repeat it!
Oh, that's so good, my darling! You didn't screw up one word!
I have never seen a butterfly with such audacity. You'll look wonderful under glass.
Won't she, my darling Damien?
No one is listening to you, you flying roach... Damien, what is it?
I can see inside that you are nervous about the trial, but you mustn't be, my dear.
You are no longer my little baby boy. You are about to turn 15 years old.
Now, Damien, dear, I know you do not need your mother to tell you about your responsibilities.
You are no longer a child. Stop acting like one. I will leave you to deal with the memories of your guests.
Now then, Damien, sweetie. Off you go to your yearlong trial.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!
I-I-I can't move! Damien, help me!
Damien, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry if I pushed you to this. Please forgive me...
Damien, quickly... I'm feeling...faint...
Yes, Damien, thank you. I'm fine.
No need to worry. I'm just a bit shaken up, that's all.
Perhaps I underestimated the gravity of these stones. This may necessitate further research. Regardless...
since you have freed the Lord of the Dead, it is yours to command. I fear you will need its power.
Although you still must seek final validation from the former sultan...your father.
*sigh* Why am I even speaking to a butterfly who knows nothing of our ancient customs...?
Damien, you must prepare yourself to recite the oath that will free the former sultan.
Oh, how long it has been since I've heard his dark, brooding voice... Just thinking about it makes me—
*sniff* ...Oh, it's all too much sometimes, Damien. I miss your father so...
*sniff* I apologize, my son. I don't know what came over me. I was weakened by our encounter.
Let us be off to the Trial Chamber.
Behold, Damien!
This statue was built to honor your father, the former Dark Sultan.
Now, Damien. Recite the oath.
Dark Sultans don't hesitate, darling. Hurry up and express your utmost desire to rule.
What's the matter, child? Finish it. "...In the name of my father, the former Dark Sultan."
Do not mock the ritual, Damien! You must finish—
Don't be ridiculous, Damien. It did no such thing.
?!
Th-that-that voice!
How dare you just come in with your booming voice after all this time without even a word to me!
What is in Damien's heart... You mean...
No...no! What have you done?!
H-he's...
He's gone... He's truly, truly gone forever!
Do you mean to tell me you were just...hiding inside that stupid statue all this time?!
I CANNOT believe you've been alive this entire time.
Enough! That's it. That. Is. IT! I am sick and tired of you little boys playing at these games!
Don't you "snugglemuffin" me! I can't believe this was all a part of your dumb little prank battle!
Do you have any idea what you've put me through?!
You remember my blood pressure! Because that's all you'll have of me from now on!
How could you be so careless and insensitive? I thought you were getting better at this!
You almost put two lands at war!
You know very well how reckless such unnecessary magic can be! What have we taught our own son?
I want everyone in the kingdom to know what a fool the man I married is.
This is quite the example to set for our son on his first day as Dark Sultan!
What are we going to tell our friends? "Oh, sorry. Apparently he was alive in a statue all this time..."?!
You had better believe you're sorry.
Your need to engage in these juvenile acts of trickery nearly destroyed your family!
I'm so glad you're no longer the Dark Sultan. There are going to be some changes in our home.
Is that what you see, Eldred?
Oh, how can I trust you? You'd sleep through your own funeral.
What did you just say?!
Oh, stop your blubbering. I'm not mad at you anymore. I've said my piece.
If I were still mad at you, you wouldn't be floating above the ground, I can tell you that much.
*Eldred, are you thinking what I'm thinking?*
Hmph! You two best hurry on back to Castele!
What is this?! I've never seen a monster like THIS before!
Oh, my... My sweet, darling Damien...
There are no tears behind my veil, I can assure you.
The fall of Reveria belongs to the Dark Sultan. Not some cheap-looking stones falling from the sky!

Tale of Lunares: Final Chapter

Dearest! What will become of us if Lunares closes?! Woe! Doom! Disaster!
What! How could you think of your wardrobe at a time like this?!
Oh. Yes, I knew that!

Flutter 026 Maajikal Library

Ah, I should've known it was you two.
Of course you couldn't. We have the greatest collection of books and scrolls in Reveria here.
Al Maajik is a paradise for any scholar. You insult us by even comparing it to Castele.
The knowledge of countless generations is housed here in Al Maajik.
This is all knowledge that will be necessary for Damien's maturation as the Dark Sultan.
Hmph! My good-for-nothing husband just floats around all day with no interest in Damien's training.
He thinks we should let Damien run around as he pleases. Such nonsense!
You are an impertinent little butterfly! Sticking that proboscis of yours into other people's business...
I understand Damien is a kind, strong boy with good intentions...
However, one cannot possibly rule a nation with kindness or impressiveness alone.
My duty is to raise Damien as a wise and just ruler. At times he will have to contradict popular opinion.
I will do anything in my power to train my son for that role, even if he grows to despise me for it.
Hm? What was that arrogant sparkling you just did?
What are the two of you doing back in Al Maajik, anyway? You received what you sought.
You're up to something. I can sense it.
That sounds suspiciously like a...laudable pursuit. If that is your true intention, I applaud you.
There is much you two could learn in this library.
And seeing as you are, by some miracle, Damien's...fr— Damien's fr-fr-fr... *ahem*
Seeing that you've become Damien's acquaintances, you should continue to educate yourselves.
If there is a particular book you are looking for, let me know. Perhaps I shall help you find it.
And take this. I found it in the desert with a sign that said "FREE" on it.
VOLUME!
Library voice. Shush.

Flutter 044 The Sultan's Tower

Maybe you could help out with some official business while you're here.
There is no "ness" in his title, young lady!
You will address him as Dark Sultan, High Command of the Maajiknights and ruler of Al Maajik!
You foolish child. The Dark Sultan of Al Maajik etches his influence onto the world of Reveria.
Yes! Bright as the moon shining in the fearsome dead of an ebony night...
So, girl...tell me about your Life.
So you are in a well-respected position. Very good. Your hands appear to be practiced with magic, yes?
A young woman with expertise in the magical arts is rare these days...
Do you work alone?
I see. And your family, then?
Tell me about your ancestral lineage. Do you come from a long line of paupers or princes?
I see.
Can you...cook?
Can't cook, then.
That's a slight drawback when it comes to looking after my son.
Damien, I'm merely assessing her qualifications to be your bride.
The natives on your island would have to train someone else to fill your position, you know.
You must be very well thought of on your island.
Well, it's obvious, my dear. You perform a sacred function integral to your civilization, correct?
Well, all parents care about their children...even if they don't always express it.
To be "trapped" on an island where one serves the greater good...well, there are a lot worse things.
I'm sure your grandfather only does what he does out of love for you and your world.
And I know if my Damien were to leave us...well, I have no idea what I would do.
I want him to have his freedom, of course. But I also want him to love his home.
He has a duty here that provides safety, comfort, and protection for all of our citizens.
It's important he create a Life he enjoys so that he can fulfill his obligations here.

Demona

What do you want, child? You have the look of a tourist in your eyes.
Damien might be the Dark Sultan, but he's a really fussy eater! You'd think he was still a baby!
I'm fed up with my good-for-nothing husband's carefree attitude toward everything! He never learns.
I allow Damien to have the evenings off. After all, I need some time to myself as well!
I'm afraid Damien is quite busy with his studies. I cannot allow you to disturb him.
I used to work here, you know. I was the stunning waitress who got all the best tips!
You should be off saving the world for us and not lounging around here!
This world belongs to my dear Damien. How dare it even think about falling apart?!
Damien's education will begin now in earnest. He must learn to be a proper ruler.
I am not some foolish woman who takes everything she knows of the world from the pages of a book! My boy will judge the world based on what he has seen with his own eyes.
Ah, perhaps I should have you take on some official duties?
Ah, perhaps I should have you take on some official duties?
That Grace was a pleasant enough young girl, but I think it's too early...especially with his education...
That Grace was a pleasant enough young girl, but I think it's too early...especially with his education...
I allowed Damien an escorted trip to Origin Island so that he may experience real Life.
I allowed Damien to visit Origin Island for the sake of his studies. He must be more than just book smart.
