Hazel's House

Professor, please! Don't tease our guest!

The Fledgling Wizard Spiritbound

Professor! That's enough. Stop teasing

You must be [Player]. The Guild said to keep an eye out for you. Welcome!

My name is Hazel, and I'm a Wizard. This is our Master, Professor Jinx.

Professor Jinx, it looks like you have a new pupil.

She may look like a plain black cat, but she's actually a famous Wizard here in Reveria.

And if you can withstand her occasional jests, you'll learn all you need to know to become a Wizard.

Professor! You were the one who taught me it's never wise to tease a Wizard.

Well, no, but...

Certainly, Professor Jinx.

Let's chat outside. We're lucky enough to have an open-air magic classroom, [Player]!

OK, everyone, please settle down. I'd like to introduce you to [Player].

[Player] is studying to be a Wizard, just like the rest of you!

Very funny. But that joke has just about worn out its welcome.

All right, that's enough!

No more clever jokes, then? Good. Now, class, who can tell me the essential elements of magic?

No one? Come on, we JUST learned this!

Correct! The key to wizarding magic is harnessing the power of the elements.

But humans don't have the power to harness elements at will. So what do we do instead?

That's right. We seek out the spirits to borrow their power.

Are you with us so far, [Player]?

As Wizards, we must first borrow the power of the spirits in order to perform our magic.

The wand Professor Jinx gave you doesn't actually possess any power of its own.

But once you've befriended a few spirits...

you can call them forth with your wand and cast magical spells!

Speaking of spirits, let's head into the eastern forest to search for some! Ready, [Player]?

Don't pout, you two. You'll be ready for the forest field trip when you're a little older.

Ignore them. Right, we're off to the eastern forest.

Spirits love to roam around that area, so it's the perfect place for beginner Wizard training.

I'll go on ahead, OK? Meet me there!

You've got a wicked gleam in your eye. You must be excited to learn about magic!

Well, you're almost ready for your first challenge.

But before that, let's go over the basics!

We can use this skill to make contact with the spirits.

Go ahead and search for two spirits somewhere within this forest. Don't worry—they're friendly!

Report back to me once you've located both spirits!

A Spirit of Earth and a Spirit of Water! You found them!

You're off to a great start. Yes, this is very, VERY promising!

Now use that skill I just taught you to try to connect with these spirits.

Perfect! Just like that! Now we can finally make some real magic!

Go ahead and equip that wand Professor Jinx gave you.

Got your wand all equipped?

It's time for the best part of any good wizarding field trip—let's make some magic!

First, I'll use my wand to conjure up a Practice Dummy. Here we go!

Let's start by using the Spirit of Water's power to create some wizarding magic.

Just point your wand at an enemy and attack! Here's how you call a spirit...

Are you ready to give it a shot?

Color me impressed, [Player]! You're a real natural at this.

Let's try a healing spell now.

This time we'll use the Spirit of Earth's power to—

Nox! Knock it off!

NOX! How many times do I have to tell you?

You can't go around calling on spirits just for the fun of it. That's a waste of precious magic!

You're getting too big for your britches, Nox. But you'll learn your lesson one day!

Nox, what have you done?!

We need to round up those runaway spirits, [Player]!

Don't just stand there gawking—help me out!

There they are!

Spirits of Fire are weak against the power of water! Use that spell I taught you!

If you get hurt, just call on the Spirit of Earth.

That way you can use healing magic!

We've got to be careful, [Name 3]. These spirits can burn you something fierce!

I think we've finally got them under control.

Excellent spell casting, [Player]!

Boy, that was a close one. But at least now you've connected with a Spirit of Fire.

This is my little brother, Nox. He's studying to be a Wizard, just like you.

Nox, this is [Player]. Think you two can play nice?

Knock it off, Nox! You need to take your training more seriously.

Maybe I should tell Reverend Collinsworth how you've been acting out. That'll teach you a lesson!

Snoozinsworth? What are you talking about?

Grr! He can be such a brat!

*sigh* Sorry about that. I swear he's not a bad kid. He's just a little...rambunctious.

OK, [Player]. Let's go see Professor Jinx.

She'll be pleased that you've picked up the basics of magic so quickly!

Professor Jinx, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. [Player] is a natural at magic!

Why? What's going on?

Reverend Collinsworth? Is everything OK?

That's enough out of you, Nox. Go play outside! NOW!

What am I going to do about him?

What?! But...what if something happens to him?

Is there really a Spooky haunting the chapel? I'm. Never. Going. There. Again.

Nope! They're just plain scary!

I suppose that's true...

[Player]! I sure am glad to see you.

The Spooky is just getting warmed up. I can feel it nearby!

Oh. You must be wondering what happened to me earlier...

I felt a strong presence, so I ran after it. Before I knew where I was going, I ended up here!

*shiver* I can still feel it—that chilling presence. I wonder if you can feel it too, [Player]!

Maybe I'm the only one who can sense it... Maybe it drew me here for a reason...

Did you just say something?

I'm pretty sure I heard a voice, and it wasn't yours...

Oh, please, please, PLEASE don't let it be a—

AHH! There it is!

I can't seem to run away! It's like my feet are glued to the floor!

Uh-oh! Nox can't use his magic because of the spell Professor Jinx put on him!

My little brother needs me! There's no time to be scared!

I am a Wizard, after all. I've got to be brave!

C'mon, [Player]! Help me take it down!

Nox, you don't need to sound so disappointed!

Oh, it was n-nothing!

Of course, my heart is still racing...

To be honest, if [Name 3] hadn't been there, I may have just run away...

A traveling Wizard from Al Maajik? I wonder...

I knew it! It's got to be Headmistress Esmerelda!

Yes, she's our professor's...er, well...acquaintance.

And as for tonight—you'll finally get a good night's sleep. No more Reverend Snoozinsworth!

I guess he figured out who blocked his magic...

Time for us to report back to Professor Jinx. Let's get going, [Name 3].

Why am I not surprised you knew about the Spooky without us having to tell you?

Thank goodness for that! I would have been a goner if it hadn't been for you, [Name 2].

That's wonderful news!

Not only did you save the day—you're a real Wizard now!

Thank you for teaching me something new about magic and bravery, [Name 2]!

The two of us make an unstoppable team.

Nox, do you think you can thank

Just point your wand at an enemy and attack! Here's how you call a spirit...

I can tell you're looking to become a Wizard... but I'm not the Master! You'll need to talk to that cat over there. Kind of a shock, huh?

You'll need to seek out some spirits first. Look for a Spirit of Earth in the forest. And a Spirit of Water can be found close to water!

Have you equipped your wand? You can equip your wand by selecting Gear in the main menu.

What am I going to do? I'm completely petrified of Spookys! But I have to do what the professor asks of me. It's my duty as a Wizard!

Who would want to do such a thing?!

Wow. Color me stunned.

But you TOLD me to say "meeeow"!

Well, that's certainly disappointing...

I was looking forward to teaching you an exciting lesson on practical magic!

Well, I don't actually have a lesson planned...

I...I'm sorry, Professor Jinx.

I'll spread the word about you, new friend!

Everyone around here will know you in no time, with Hazel on the job.

Let's vow to dedicate ourselves to the noble art of wizardry, shall we?

Hazel

Magic is amazing. I mean, using the elements to cast spells? That's the very definition of amazing! You can learn how to harness the power of the spirits, you know. Just become a Wizard!

Professor! Please, you've got to take things more seriously. And you shouldn't tease your students!

Hey there, [Player]! Or should I say, "Hey there, Wizard [Player]"? Now that we're fellow Wizards, I thought I should give you a little gift... You know, to welcome you to the club! I hope you like it—it's my specialty.

I'm expecting great things of you!

There's a cave in the Grassy Plains called Haniwa Cave. There's a nasty spirit in there—the Skullblob. It comes out at night and scares the Miners silly. It's become a real nuisance to them...kinda like Nox, if you know what I mean. How about you teach it a lesson, [Player]? I mean, if you haven't done it already!

Um...don't HURT the Skullblob or anything. Just, you know, teach it a lesson. The professor really hates it when we show the spirits any disrespect. Be polite after you defeat it! Go get that Skullblob. And don't worry—Haniwa Cave isn't too spooky at night! Actually, it kinda is...

Congratulations on reaching Apprentice rank, [Player]. That's fantastic! Hey, has Professor Jinx told you yet about wide-range attacks? They use up more SP than regular attacks... AND you're unprotected while charging them! But the good news is wide-range attacks let you take out multiple enemies in one fell swoop!

Sure, wide-range attacks use up a ton of SP. But you can take out so many enemies at once! If you remember your studies and really focus your attacks, you can deal some serious damage!

Look at you! An Adept-ranked Wizard already! Congrats, [Player]. I've been meaning to ask you...has Nox been bothering you at all lately? He's really been acting up again. Up to his old tricks, you know? I think it's because he misses our older brother. I mean, he totally idolizes Colin! But Colin is doing so well at his job that I don't think he'll be coming home anytime soon. At least Colin is giving Nox something to strive for. Nox and I both want to wrangle spirits, like Colin! By the way, I heard that the Spirits of Fire are causing trouble in Lava Cave on Mount Snowpeak. You and I should put those spirits in their place! Wait...you haven't already done it, have you?

Nox isn't a bad kid at heart. He just wants to grow up to be a great Wizard like his brother. Maybe that's why he's always stirring up trouble... He wants to make waves in the wizarding world! It's no excuse for his behavior, but I think he's just afraid Colin won't ever come back...

Hey there! Nice job on reaching Expert rank, [Player]. I bet you're wondering why I look so happy— it's 'cause we finally got a letter from Colin! Nox was SO stoked to hear from his big brother. It made his day, and that made MY day! And, of course, I'm also happy that you're an Expert Wizard now. That makes my day too! By the way, Colin mentioned something interesting in his letter... He said the Spirits of Water who live on Tortuga Archipelago have been acting weird lately. How about you head over there and show 'em who's boss? Have you been over there yet?

Professor Jinx says it wasn't always like this. It used to be that whenever spirits appeared, they were calm. Not necessarily friendly, just...peaceful. But now it's the complete opposite! What in Reveria did we do to make them so angry?

I can't believe you've already reached the rank of Master, [Player]! You could become a teacher now, I suppose... but then I'd be out of a job! Just kidding! I know you wouldn't steal my job away from me. Would you? Of course you wouldn't. Actually, Professor Jinx said it was OK if I wanted to take a bit of a break from teaching. I thought maybe I'd join you on your next adventure! You know, brush up on my practical skills and all. I'm ready to join your party anytime, so just let me know!

My specialty is Fire Magic. If you take me with you on your next quest, I'll roast every enemy in sight!

So you reached Hero rank, huh, [Player]? Funny... You don't LOOK any different! You know, whenever I learn a new spell, I always think about how I'm going to teach it to you... But I don't think you need me to teach you anything anymore. Maybe you should teach ME! I bet that thought has crossed your mind a million times, and you're just too humble to admit it!

Boy, you sure know how to work your magic on the spirits! Yep! I knew I was right about you. From the first moment I laid eyes on you— Uh...never mind! Forget what I just said! You know what? We should go out on another adventure again soon!

Lookee here! It's the Legendary Wizard everyone is talking about! They say only Wizards who have tamed ALL the spirits can reach that rank. All I can say is, "Wow." Promise you won't forget about me now that you're the toast of the wizarding world, [Player]!

Everyone's been talking about you—but they're only saying nice things. Like Professor Jinx! She said that thanks to you, humans and spirits are once again living in harmony. The balance has been restored! That's a HUGE deal. I know you're too modest to brag, so I'll brag for you, OK? Ha ha!

I heard from Professor Jinx that you're trying to reach the next level... And I only know of one more "next" level— the Creator rank! Oh, I hope it's true that you're really going for that. I'd be so proud of you!

I can't believe you're actually trying to reach the Creator rank! I mean, I barely know anything about Creator- ranked Wizards. They're kinda few and far between. But I know if anyone can do it, it's you!

Am I supposed to bow down to you or something now that you've reached Creator rank? Just kidding! I know you're too humble to flaunt your new rank in my face. Honestly, I don't know much about the Creator rank. I used to think the ranks stopped at Legend. But congrats anyway! And here. I want you to have this.

Hi there, [Player]! You know, I was just thinking about you. I was kinda wondering what Creator-ranked Wizards actually DO. I mean, do they, like, create new worlds or something? That's a big responsibility! If I ever reach the Creator rank, I'm just going to float on the breeze and commune with nature. Ha! Like I'm ever going to reach Creator rank. But it's nice to dream...
