Manuel

You look like you're wondering, "What is this place?" Hmph. I'll have you know... "this place" is Snoot's Emporium. And I, my uninformed friend, am a gem expert.
You want to know my name? What a sad world we live in where etiquette is no more. I am Manuel. I have a younger sister who lives in Castele, and... Why in the Goddess's name am I telling you this? Let us talk strictly of business!
You're a Miner, aren't you? And you know Duglas? Indeed, he is my brother-in-law. So, yes, that would make Ruby my sister. Well done. So, you want some help with mining, do you? I'm afraid that will have to wait. You see I'm knee deep in business negotiations with Mr. Snoot here. Very important!
You mine jewels; I sell jewels. Can you see where I am going with this? Indeed, I believe there is much for us to discuss! Much indeed!
I must say, Duglas and my sister certainly make quite the...odd couple, if I can be perfectly frank. On the day he planned to propose to her, the man lost the ring. LOST! Who does that? Well, dear Ruby picked up on the fact that Duglas was sweating boulders and reassured him. She said she didn't need a ring. Rather, she said a flower would suffice. As she said that, Duglas apparently reached down and plucked a flower from the ground. But it wasn't a flower. It was a Weedling! Well, you can imagine what happened next. Ruby took one look at the Weedling and screamed! Her face turned pale! She was yelling and trying to swat it away, and she hit poor Duglas in the face! It was quite the debacle. I'm surprised they actually got married. Clearly my sister is willing to put up with a lot...
So, yes, Duglas used an itty-bitty Weedling as an engagement ring for my sister. When he finally put that *ahem* ring on her finger... what exactly do you think she did? Indeed. She flipped out. I can't even describe how mad she was. And the lecture she gave him was absolutely epic. We still discuss it at family gatherings. It was a debacle, indeed. With a capital D.

Oh, you're back, are you? Since you're here, let me tell you about something I just HATE. Miners with terrible Luck. URGH! *ahem* Sorry... You know what kinds of gems they mine up? Junk! Junk like Minty Ore! What possible use could anyone have for Minty Ore?! C-come again?! It's used for what now? T-toothpaste?! Who in their right mind does THAT?! That sounds like something only Duglas could cook up! Anyway, here's a little something from me to make sure you don't end up down on your Luck. Last thing I need is you bringing me barrels full of Minty Ore. Ugh. How dreadful!
Luck makes you a better Miner. It's common sense. Oh, how I dislike unlucky Miners. DISLIKE!

You're now an Expert Miner, you say? Hmm. Perhaps there is more to you than I thought. How about I give you a teeny tidbit of info I heard? Deep in the Aridian Desert there exists a rock whose massive shape rivals that of a volcanic flame! It's called the Fire Wingstone. There can be only one approach to it—dig, dig, DIG!

Simply marvelous! Just...just extraordinary! You're a full-fledged Master Miner now. Of all the Miners I know, you, my finely dressed friend, are, as they say, numero uno. Duglas and Rocque? I thought they were good, but you put even them to shame! *haaaaaaaargh...* If only my sister married Rocque instead. He's such a nice fellow, and quite the Miner... Urk! Oh, crackers... I shouldn't have said that. You heard nothing! NOTHING!
You might be a Master now, but there are a lot of other Miners still striving for that rank. Saying that, why not step aside and try your hand at a brand-new Life?

Mining might have a minimal connection with other trades, but your finds really matter. Find yourself a special kind of gemstone? Then you'd better believe an artisan will be able to craft it into a fine accessory perfect for battle.
We all love a little extra Dosh, but if you're thinking about alchemy, I say keep those gems! Don't sell! All of those extra gems certainly come in handy when making accessories!

You're a Legend now? Yes, yes, congratulations. Now I expect only the finest gems from you.

*haaaaaargh...* Lately business has been SO slow. Not even the tiniest little Diamond. Nothing. Nada! Wh-whaaaat?! What did you say? Y-you're aiming to become better than a Legend and then mine the rarest of rare gems?! KA-CHING! What was that? Why, that's the sound of a lucrative business opportunity, my friend! A good entrepreneur should have a sixth sense for that type of thing! KA-CHIIIING!
N-n-n-n-n-o way! You're aiming for Creator rank?! You know, this newfound rank of yours could be mutually beneficial! All those gems you'll mine... We are friends, are we not? I always said you'd amount to something. Didn't I? Of course I did! Ha ha! Don't be silly!

Creator r-rank?! But surely that cannot be a REAL rank, can it? A rank higher than Legend? I cannot even... Er, no, no. It's certainly true. I mean, you are living proof of that. You have my congratulations. Ah, yes! This calls for a victory present! Take it with my kindest regards!
Well, well. How goes the mining? No time to dillydally now. There are gems to mine. With Creator rank come extrarare gems!
