0:00Did you know? There are three different types of mimics in Fantasy Life i! Yes. Not two, but three. And I have figured out which one is best for farming Treasure Grove Saplings as quickly as possible. Now, this tutorial is accessible, to any player at any point of the game. As long as you've unlocked Ginormosia at, like, the start of chapter two. All you gotta do is start off at the very first tower available in West Dryridge Desert. You're given this as a part of the tutorial, so you'll definitely have it From the tower, head all the way to the tip of the land here. Do you see that landmass all the way in the distance?

0:40Once you walk from the first tower in Ginormosia all the way to the tip of the tail. We'll be swimming across to reach Nostruul Cave. Because I have a massive revelation about the Mimics you find in there that many people are unaware of. If you're looking to grind Treasure Grove saplings, you can only obtain them by defeating mimics. out of the three types of mimics in Fantasy Life i, Only two of them drop Treasure Grove saplings. Right now, you can consider us to be in a giant map that I would call the Ginormosia Overworld. The moment that you enter any loading screen, whether you're teleporting or going into a forest or heading inside a cave. You are officially out

1:20Of the Ginormosia Overworld. Any mimics that are found outside of the Ginormosia Overworld cannot drop Treasure Grove Saplings. It's just a little gimmick in this game. They want you to explore Ginormosia, So as an incentive, even if you kill mimics in this dedicated mimic cave created by the developers, you will not obtain Treasure Grove Saplings from it. A lot of people ask me why I don't just farm the mimics in this cave for saplings in my answer, as you can see on the left of the screen there, we didn't get a Sapling! It's not worth it. So behind us here is a level 40 mimic. And I do believe it's of the second type... So let's try to use it for a quick demonstration here. Just don't run away

2:00Like that. Don't do that. Yeah, okay. I like when they glitch up the cliff like that. It's really cool. So there's our sapling, and he was like, over here. Okay, so let's use the teleportation gate, which respawns *EVERYTHING*, as we know from previous videos, and see if the mimic respawns! Okay. So as you can see, the mimic did *NOT* Respawn! tragically. Our beloved Teleportation Gate trick does not work on Mimics. Or does it? Do not give up hope because this is the second type of mimic we're demonstrating. And I found a third type. That's what this entire video is about. People have been asking me for the best way to grind Treasure Grove saplings for a while, and I was

2:40Originally going to do a video saying to do multiplayer and run around with four players. Since you duplicate all of your item drops between everyone when playing multiplayer Ginormosia. It's a pretty good tactic. It works, but check this out. Remember how I told you to go to Nostruul cave a bit earlier in the video? We are going to teleport back there, or at least go to the tower and then cut the video. The rabbit MUST die. So here we are. By Nostruul Cave. If you're wondering where the tower is, you just walk straight down the road from the tower. And here's the place. Here is the beach that we swam through from the tail. Over there. So from this campfire, we're going to go up the cliff And here's a special spot that I found..... With a Mimic!

3:21But it's not just any Mimic. Kill it, get the Sapling, and then try using your teleportation gate! Dude, this worked yesterday. So if it doesn't work today, I'm going to freak out... this better work. Hey, there's part of me that's wondering if it's actually going to work today. Oh, god. Please be there. ..... YES!!! Okay, so for whatever reason, this Mimic always Respawns when you use the Teleportation Gate, even though none of the other ones do. It's like a forbidden third type of mimic, The Respawning Mimic. everybody was telling me to go inside the cave to farm mimics, which is, you know, if you want gold and stuff that makes sense, but you're never going to get a sapling. It's not in their drop table.

4:01It's literally impossible. It turns out, the best mimic to spawn for saplings is right outside the cave. I wonder if this is truly an accident, or if the developers also did this on purpose. Keep in mind this is LEVEL5. We're talking about the creators of Dragon Quest IX Grottos with Metal Slime grinding. They kind of like when you do this sort of thing. They just like to hide it. So having a dedicated cave to Mimics with the downside of no Treasure Grove Saplings doesn't necessarily break the game. And then this guy outside, I wonder if this specific behavior is going to be patched, or if not actually classify it as a bug because it's intentional ;) Now, I know what you might be wondering. You can change the rank of an area at the tower.

4:41So which rank should you be using for your area? Well, here's a warning. If you get an area to rank seven, then sometimes the Mimics spawn in as Pandora's Boxes, which makes them ridiculously difficult. But putting that interesting fun fact aside. Ranking your area, makes the mimics drop better weapons, which is cool if you need weapons, but that's what the cave is for. That's the entire purpose of the cave: farming weapons from Mimics. So since we're farming Treasure Grove Saplings and rank one area mimics at Level 20 die in a single hit... You got to set your tower to rank one, and then you don't have to worry about if the mimic’s going to run away because even if it runs away, you kill it in a single shot. Who cares? The moment the enemy goes

5:21Poof with the smoke, that's when you're considered outside of combat and you can use the teleportation gate. Make sure to shoot your weapon with R2 if it's still considering you inside. Combat. Every little bit speeds up the grind. and of course, play on an SSD for fast loading times.... random tip I guess? It doesn't matter how far away you are from the mimic. You can spawn in right next to him here, and he will still appear, even though plenty of other mimics in Ginormosia will never respawn, no matter how many times I use the teleportation gate. Not sure if it's just a me thing...? Might be a skill issue on my part. so how many saplings do I have? I want to get 99 for the thumbnail. Of course. There's definitely someone out there who's going to be disappointed if I don’t! 70 out of 99, dude, that's, like, faster

6:01Than I thought it was going. Okay. I thought I was going to be at 50 by now. 99 is so easy to reach this way. The best part is that you don't have to run around. You don't really have to use the control stick that much. You got to pause. You got to teleport gate. You got to mash your Stick Button. Okay, I'm looking at my OBS right now. While recording, I'm going to count how many seconds it takes to get a single Sapling. Okay, so that was like eight seconds-- 10 seconds? Using the door... Open the chest gate again. Was that like 30s total to get the sapling? Does that entire cycle take 30s? those saplings go QUICK when you're searching for a Dragontree, I'll tell you that much. Don't ask about the Godfish. I joke about the Godfish being difficult to make appear, but at this point, I'm not entirely sure if he appears for me or not.

6:41I think he swam off to other games. Which will happen first, a new affection heart or 99 saplings? Yeah. I don't know if they're getting much affection from this. Now, do keep in mind: Treasure Grove Saplings count as Consumables because you do use them when rolling for dungeons. So you can only roll up to 99. I do say only here, because if God Fish has a 0.00001% chance of appearing. You're going to need a lot of saplings. I. Think I can get 20 saplings in, like, ten minutes. Honestly, setting all of your areas to rank one and then hosting a multiplayer lobby and just sprinting around, killing all the mimics in one hit, that works too. Because when you get a sapling, when you get a drop in Ginormosia multiplayer, everybody else on

7:21The server gets that drop. as well. You don't fight over it, like in an MMO. It's duplicated to everybody fairly. There's no Koma Battles! would be funny if they added that... I'm getting nervous checking my saplings here. I don't want to run over the limit. I don't want to miss the countdown. We're progressing at a very clear rate of two saplings per minute. Oh, you know what? I've been meaning to do a tier list or like, a-- okay Top 5 / Tier List. I don't know what to call it. Okay. Maybe that has something to do with why I haven't made the video yet. do a tier list of Bosses, that appear, like, always keep this, always reroll. Sometimes reroll, right? there are some things where you're going to regret rerolling. ridiculously rare

8:01Appearance rates for things like Evil Shard, Godfish. I don't know, maybe the reason why certain things feel so rare is because there aren't a lot of Boss Veggies? so the boss veggie floors make the other boss appearance rates feel totally screwed up Because the Boss Veggie Pool totally fair. There's just nothing of note in it. You never actually want to do the damn floors! but it's totally fair because there are like eight Boss Veggies and so it's a pretty good appearance rate for each of them. Meanwhile, there are, like, 50 trillion boss rocks because they have all the old ones from the 3DS game that nobody wants to roll for. And you know, it would make sense to have the easy floors, have easy stuff as the bosses.

8:41And the hard floors have hard stuff for the bosses. But that's not true. Just so much testing. You roll hundreds of saplings. We are pretty confident that it's an equal rate for everything on any floor? It feels weird to say that, but you can even get shadow bosses in the present day. Outside of aging weapon skills, it feels like there's very little purpose in doing the lower floors of the Treasure Grove, which is disappointing because we put a lot of effort into them. When we first started playing the game, we got a lot of time to them because we expected a large return from it, and it just wasn’t there. There's not even a final boss at the end, which is really weird. There's official Key Art for the Treasure Groves that shows a boss being fought that's only found in Ginormosia

9:21Right now. So if there's any indication of update content, it's that. The Guardian Golem. And of course, A weapon to surpass Metal Gear. I mean, Dark Dragon is a bit less of a spoiler. All three of those bosses should be added to Treasure Groves, in a future update, I think. And they're probably only going to be available at year 1,000. But why would you want to fight them? What are they going to give you? I'm thinking of it like Monster Hunter now. What's his armor set going to be? You technically get flowers from this, but it's nothing notable. I swear, this method is super fast. We got, like, over 20 in 10 minutes. I'm serious. Before my fastest was getting, like, 80 and an hour long multiplayer session. You can max out your saplings in less than that time,

10:01But technically, you're not helping anybody else get saplings doing between multiple people. You create more saplings among yourselves, and hopefully you roll for the dungeons together and you share your milestones. That's kind of the idea in this game, but also every system-- makes you pay for online now, dude, it’s so stupid! Why do I have to pay Nintendo $2 a month to play Fantasy Life online? Makes no sense. So if you don't want to pay for that crap, I get it. Oh, “Excess items were converted into Dosh”! We did it! 99 Treasure Grove saplings. That's the video.
