0:00We're comparing who's worth putting your resources into, from reviving first with your flowers to upgrading with the soups, because everything costs some sort of resource in this game. So whether you like it or not, we gotta rank em. And let me tell you, look, I love ranking things. I think it's super fun, but I do want to issue a big PSA warning. Just because I'm making a tier list, that doesn't mean you can use it to bully people. If someone's using a Strangeling that I have marked as low tier, don't get mad at them and don't tell them that they're lame for using their favorite character. That's not the kind of game this is. You can really beat anything with everything
0:40Because I just, I have no combat lives and I have a stick, and I use the worst NPCs in the game on purpose, and I beat everything. No problem. We are going to perform hardcore* “testing” today to really determine who the true best Strangelings in the game are, because you can only use three and it requires significant investment to get someone to maximum power. Speaking of maximum power, Odin is at minimum power :( Because I've been waiting for this video to do a special test. He has a special skill. Dark fortress boosts attack and defense of nearby allies. Odin also buffs your defense, which is pretty helpful. So we're going to do two things here. We're going to compare Rouge's
1:21Invigorating War Cry, which strengthens allies, and Odin's Dark Fortress, which also boosts the attack of allies. Which is better? Which is stronger when you're looking to buff your damage? Because stick has very few ways to actually buff itself. Let's see if Odin is an official friend of the stick. Now we advance. We're doing like 830 ish to these Sandzards All right, now buff me. Have the buff menu pulled up here. Oh, he has no freaking gear, dude, he has this wooden sword and the Wooden Shield, oh no... Ocarina of Time at the start. Bro... Oh. Oh, I he missed me, bro. He missed me with his buff. So I know
2:01It says nearby allies, but I was pretty nearby and I didn't get hit by it, so I guess we're going to have to keep that in mind. Rouge’s is pretty big. I thought Rouge's was bigger than that. Oh! He buffed me. He buffed me! How long does it last? It last for 30s. We have to find a Sandzard. Go, go find a Sandzard. See how much damage we do. Go! it lasts for 30s. Oh oh. Whoa, whoa. We're hitting 900. We're hitting the nine hundreds. So maybe it's like. It's at least a 10% boost, but it's not much more than that. That's still pretty good, considering all those buff effects can stack with each other. Just to be sure, let's try
2:41Applying a power aid after receiving Odin's buff. AHHHmmmm...! Okay, you know what? Maybe Odin's bottom tier, because he keeps missing me with his buff. Power Aid. Look at that. We have two separate attack buffs. So the Strangeling attack buff does stack with the Potion attack buff, which is fantastic news. Now let's try a couple things. let's put Rouge in the party and see if their buffs stack. Oh. Rouge hit me! But Odin didn’t. I guess that's a good comparison for the size of their buffs. Pretty sure Odin's is, way worse. All right, stick
3:21Next to each other. Come on. Oh, there it is. rouge! Come on, get with the program. Rouge! You have 15 seconds. Come on, Rouge, the clock is ticking. Rouge! there's not much time. Rouge! OH! Oh! Oh! Oh! Look at that! We have both attack ups! She did it! Yes! Okay, so if you want to buff your attack to the max, you can use Rouge and Odin. But here's the thing, okay? Odin is a Paladin, and his other Special skill is that he makes enemies attack him more. You have to be, like, literally right next to him when he uses his skill in order to get the buff, and the hitbox
4:01Barely lasts any time at all compared to Rouge’s. So overall, you basically have to put yourself in danger to receive a small buff and chase after Odin. Meanwhile, Rouge’s attack against the enemy is usually going to hit you. It deals damage. It freaking Paralyzes and buffs your attack. So yeah, I don't like Odin after all. I was hoping I would, but even though he gives you a decent buff, it's counterintuitive due to his taunting skill making it so that you both have to chase after him in order to get hit by the buff, and enemies are going to be chasing after “you AND him” because he gets targeted by them more. Now. Mustang. I just got to get one thing out of the way. I put visual style
4:41Above all else. Mustang has a mustache attack, which means he's top tier. Putting that aside. That's honestly about all that he does. Mustang gets a flat plus 40 defense boost for his final skill. As long as another Paladin is in your party. But plus 40 defense when you have 1000 really isn't much at all now, is it? Meanwhile, his other skill is dedicated to being targeted by enemies more which hate the head. Haniwa turned towards us and hit us there, so it clearly doesn't work all the time. But now it's like definitely taunted by him, locked on him. I think the skill’s functional to some degree, unlike in
5:21Another LEVEL5 game, it doesn't work. I'll leave it to you to decide which one I'm describing this barely passes for training, says Mustang. Yeah, because you're not using your freaking special Do it for the people. Oh there it is doing it. He's doing it. OOOOOOOOOOOH That's it. That's the attack. Is he worth using for that? No. He's garbage. Literally one of the most useless companions, He is a character who can fight, and that's about it. But hey, badass. Special move. Gotta admit. What they could always do to troll us in future expansions is introduce enemies with elemental absorption. So that way we're literally forced to not use certain elements. That way, you know, a full team of fire special users
6:01Could eventually have its own purpose, and therefore you'd want to use Mustang. I don't know. I'm making up a scenario that will never exist. Sorry, buddy. You’re Garbo Tier. Except Garbodor was really good in the TCG at one point, so he's worse than Garbo. Now that we've tested the likely to be targeted by enemies skill, which seemingly does work in some capacity but isn't necessarily useful due to how fragile the AI companions are. Let's address another skill with much confusion, including me. When I was streaming, I really didn't know how it worked, and that's why Hilda was so high level, because we were kind of testing her out. So her special skill
6:41Is an area of effect heal for everybody and another skill slot of hers is dedicated to increasing the heal that her skill gives by 30%. This might sound useless since you can spam healing powder pretty quick, but honestly, Hilda uses her healing skill a lot and the area of effect is quite large. Considering how your AI like to do whatever the hell that was. They can really land themselves into some strange predicaments. So if one AI is acting stupid, the other can make up for it by healing them. Anyways, the reason we're using these awesome guys is because they both have a unique skill that says plus 30%
7:21Effectiveness to cooking. It's time to test something out. Does that skill only apply to them or does it apply to the whole party? Because cooking can give plus 200 in all of your battle stats. If you eat the most powerful stews in the game, increasing that by a total of 60% by using two cooking companions *would* be incredibly powerful. However, I'm not entirely sure that's how it works. First, let's try eating some stew without these companions in the party. I think it's 150 power Stew actually. Level 53 hill spiders. Let's test it out. From 900 to 1000 damage. The damage can really vary a lot in this game.
8:02But you know, 912 was our low there and a thousand something was our high. So now let's wipe that buff, eat some gathering food instead. And then we will add Hilda and Fang to our party let's check our damage against the hill spiders. If it's massively higher in the super high thousands, that's how we will know. That we're getting a cumulative plus 60% buff to cooking effects. But my theory is that it only applies to the users, so each of them get plus 30% and that's it. yeah. Our damage is identical. We are not being affected by their plus 30% effectiveness to cooking skill at all. However.
8:42Check this out. Pumpkin soup. Feed it to fang. And what happens? Feed it to Hilda. And what happens? We already have a plus 50% duration buff applied to all of our cooking, so we get a minute and a half instead of a minute. But check that out. Fang and Hilda get a minute and 48 seconds instead of a minute, proving that they each get their own individual 30% bonus duration for a total of 80% bonus duration. On our one minute stews. The 30% effectiveness to cooking skill does not stack between them, and it does not apply
9:22To your player character. So they get some fantastic stats from your stews, making them extremely powerful characters for sure. However, they aren't as good as they could be. But you know how certain characters like Mustang have skills like plus 40 flat defense. Well plus 30% effectiveness to a 150 combat power stew is plus 50 to all stats. Fang and Hilda are objectively stronger. Than characters like Mustang. Immediately. In addition, Fang has +30% critical hit rate, so I do believe that would be a total of 40% chance to crit,
10:03Because the base chance is 10%. So if you need an Earth element attacker, well, he doesn't natively deal earth damage with his physical attack because nobody in this game does. Just to be clear. And he doesn't boost The damage of Earth skill specifically, but Fang has an extremely high chance the crit gets bonus stats and gets a massive bonus in all combat stats when you feed him. And his special move is pretty badass looking, so we're going to say he's quite good. Meanwhile, Hilda is entirely dedicated to healing and support, which is pretty unnecessary. Her cooking skill only supports herself. Meanwhile, her kit is made for supporting her
10:43Allies. So honestly, She's just not that good. Even if she's a fantastic healer, I personally don't like using her because spamming Maxheal Powder is way easier, but I understand that she has many uses. A lot of players like to use her, and she's great at keeping your eye alive when they like to get themselves killed nice and quickly. Sloane is a third combat character who has a special skill that can strengthen nearby allies. He also gets a flat damage boost when equipping Earth weapons, which is something that I've been meaning to test as well. So let's see what it's like getting buffed
11:23By all three. Rouge’s buff is giant, and it damages and it paralyzes. Rouge is just 20 times better than Odin. I did the math. Oh, he did it. He did it! check it out. I have defense up and attack up. Oh, wait. Hang on. Did you see that? Rouge renewed the attack up. Hang on. What? Does it count as the same thing? Oh, there was Odin's. He didn't get me with it again. Hey, I got the rouge buff. Rouge’s buff. Lasts forever. You can dive into Rouge's buff during it, but for Odin's. I tried to dive into it there, and it didn't work. You literally have to be standing right next to him the moment that you put it up, or else it's not going to work. I think Sloane isn't going to use his buff
12:03Unless you're low on HP because it's a Heal +buff. He really doesn't seem to be using his buff. You got to drop to lower HP so that he wants to Heal you. That's kind of easy in a normal battle. I guess, but if you're trying to spam strength up buffs with your Strangelings, that's something to keep in mind. Odin's got a tiny hitbox for his, and Sloane needs you to be low on HP in order for him to use the Heal Plus buff. Overall, Rouge is the best when it comes to buffing you. There's just one important thing you need to keep in mind about Sloane. Even though he technically has a buff on his Heal, it's a Heal first and foremost, so he's never going to use it if everyone's full on HP. So it's a bit different from Odin and Rouge. Sloane is better than Hilda
12:43And Odin for sure, but not better than Rouge. Olivia, unfortunately has nothing going for her. One of her skills is entirely dedicated to boosting dosh earned by 5%, which is literally nothing. It doesn't work when crafting. It doesn't work when selling stuff. It's really just when enemies drop dosh, which is barely anything as is. Meanwhile, her final skill is dedicated towards increasing the damage of her special skill by 30%. Her special skill is wind element, so this is flat out worse than a plus 30% wind element damage skill like some other
13:23Strangelings could have. Overall, Olivia gets super cheesed. Her skills are total duds and even her special that her final skill is dedicated to just doesn't deal that much damage. If you've got an enemy super weak to wind, she can go on the team. But man, that dosh skill is just awful. 5% bro. Jerry is another character whose special skill is dedicated to healing people nearby, And one of his passives is identical to Sloane's increasing Heal by 10%. The difference is that final skill Coddled Baby
14:03No More. Jerry gets a massive boost to his critical hit rate, which honestly doesn't do that much. Overall, I would say that Jerry is really not worth using unless you're desperate for a healer, but something that you're going to have to keep in mind is that these healing skills do require you to be nearby when the NPC feels like using their skill, which is really whenever they feel like it compared to when you need a heal. Come on Jerry. Just there it is. Do it. Okay, he got me and it's really not that much of a heal at all. Perfect. Oh, he's doing it again. Yeah. Healers can kind of spam
14:43Their special sometimes. I don't really get it. Overall, there are far more useful Strangelings and. Jerry's really, really, really ugly. So I don't like him and I'm never using him. Sorry. Now, Cliff has huge potential here as a water attacker that deals plus 10% damage to fire type enemies because fire is usually the type that's weak to water. But here's the issue with Cliff's potential many elemental attacking strangelings get a 30% boost whenever they're dealing damage of their respective element, regardless of the enemy’s element. This means if an enemy isn't fire type,
15:23But they're still weak to water, Cliff isn't going to be that useful against them. Additionally, even if an enemy is fire type. Cliff would much prefer to get a straight up 30% boost to all water type damage. But here's the nice thing about Cliff. In addition to his 10% damage boost to fire type enemies, he always gets 40 bonus magic damage when equipping any water type Element Weapon. He's basically got a combination of percent increase for elemental damage and flat increase, so this makes him pretty interesting in my eyes. There's just one thing to check. Does absolute zero ever actually
16:04Frostbite enemies? I'm going to cool you down, he says. Okay, cool him down with the Frostbite. Let's see it, Cliff. I'll heal you, cliff. Hang in there. Oh, he Specialed again...? Whoa, whoa. Okay, he's got some good magic. Honestly, I think the big ice crystal is just his combo. Check that out. Yeah, that's not his special. Froggy wand. It's water element. He has to. Cliff, how are you still dead? I removed him from our party, and I put him back on our party to see if he would heal. Oh, he has one HP now. Instant revive. Cliff, we will now see if you ever manage to frostbite, like, ever. Let's cheer you on. You got this cliff. Okay. It's called “Absolute Zero”. And it can't Frostbite? Cliff ain't doing much here.
16:44On that note, it's time to test another character who has been a high point of contention recently. Jake, the sword of Castele. As you can see, he has two Skills: Freezing Waltz, which apparently slices through the area with an “Icy blade”, and the Skill Swordsman of the Rime which boosts his chance of inflicting Frostbite. He also gets plus 40 flat physical damage when equipping a water element, making him a decent parallel to Cliff, though Cliff does not have this boost chance of inflicting frostbite skill. So let's see what happens when we use Jake on our team. Even do a water type sword for good measure, even if that
17:24Shouldn't matter. Boreal blade and Jake, let's just have you go crazy on this Napdragon here. I have full faith that you will eventually, Frostbite him. Oh, go go go go go go. That was a crazy move dude. Okay. We're going to let him keep going at it. You do that, Jake. You fall into the river. Yeah, yeah, just like that. And then Napdragon can. And then. Okay. Yep. Great game. plenty of damage. Zero frostbite. So, Jake clearly can't frostbite unless you have a sword that says inflicts frostbite. How do you get that? You have to age a sword 1,000 years or, like, 700 plus. That's the only way to get a base chance of inflicting frostbite.
18:04And so, Jake is basically really bad. There's zero reason to ever use Jake when Snow exists. Our adorable Idol Mercenary. Snow's Frozen March says it creates sharp icicles, and her Twinkling Stage Skill boosts chance of inflicting Frostbite. So on paper, she's identical to Jake and should never inflict Frostbite. But check out what happens when we take her into battle. She's got this. Freeze him! She got him. And she literally got him with the final hit of a random ass combo. Are you kidding me? I didn't even know.... what?
18:44So it doesn't have to be her special. It literally doesn't have to be Special. So snow can naturally inflict Frostbite. It just builds up, any time she does a basic attack against an enemy. Jake does have the boost chance of inflicting Frostbite Skill, so we can test it out one more time for good measure. Against that shadow tortoise Level 50. Shadow tortoise. Steel yourself for a tough battle, Jake. You can do it, buddy. Come on, get some Frostbite build up. Get it going. Something like that. Go go go go go. He's crushing. Plenty of icy hits there. Jake. Where's the frostbite? Yeah. Jake is slicing him up, and we are getting zero frostbite. It's just not the same as snow. considering that it says frostbite on the box
19:25And he does not inflict frostbite, naturally, Jake is going in bottom tier. Speaking of Jake, we have been meeting to test something, so let's use Jake to test it. Specifically, I've been meaning to test the plus 40 damage boost. What the heck does that mean? Is it just flat damage? All the time? Is it good? Early game, but terrible late game? Or is it a base damage boost on top of scaling that later gets applied? I have no clue. So here we have an ordinary boreal blade at 349 attack. It adds plus 10% crit damage, but we were gonna ignore the critical hits anyways, so it doesn't matter. Here we have a
20:06Wind element, Verdant blade, also at 349 attack with minus charge up time as the skill It should not impact the test at all. These two swords are entirely equal except for one factor. Their elements are different, and Jake gets a 40 flat damage boost. When using water element weapons, let's see how that affects his damage against the dark element. Shadow enemies. Go, Jake. Now let's respawn those wolves and have Jake fight them with a water element sword instead of the verdant Sword. Yeah, I think it's literally just a +40 damage boost when he hits. It's not that different. Frostbite as a status condition is incredibly
20:46Powerful because It slows down all of their movement and animations. And if you accumulate enough frostbite, it can shatter for big percent HP damage. frostbite deals bonus damage when applied. Meanwhile, burn doesn't apply any damage directly itself, but it does debuff the enemy's defense and Magic defense when applied. One aspect of burn that I've been meaning to test is how much it actually impacts the defense and magic defense of enemies. Here's my stick. So there is King Woolie. He'll be our victim here as we test our damage out on him. 2400 ish There you go. 2600, 2500, 2700,
21:272500, 2640. Yeah. We're no longer hitting for 24 anymore, that's for sure. So burn is a nice damage buff. It's just passive as long as it's applied. making Fern the easiest way to boost the damage of all Strangelings in your party and yourself as well. Fern automatically applies Burn with her normal attacks and her special, Just like snow. So she builds it up super fast. Fern debuffs the defense of enemies, causing them to take more damage while Snow deals burst damage with frostbite and debilitates enemies, slowing their movement speed and animation speed as well. This combination
22:07Of status attackers. Make snow and fern the most powerful combination of two Strangelings for fighting in the entire game. In my opinion, they are indisputably the absolute highest top tier of Strangelings in Fantasy Life i. Because these two characters trivialize any fight in the game. The third slot on your team is highly dependent on the enemy that you're fighting. For example, Rouge works on the majority of boss fights. You'll want to spam paralysis as much as possible, and Rouge is there to help you do that. But let's say you want to carefully time paralysis using paralyze bombs.
22:47Rouge spamming her paralysis build up is not preferable for those sorts of fights, meaning that she doesn't always go on the team. She just almost always goes on the team. Her final skill boosts our damage when you have less combat lives in your party, which is useful for day to day play. Going throughout the story and keeping some gatherers on your team for accessibility. But of course, it doesn't matter in hardcore fights where you're geared out with a maximum team of combat lives. But that's okay, because her second passive boosts damage to all enemies whenever her HP is at 50% or less, which your NPCs are going to be
23:27At pretty often because they like getting hit all the time, and you can't really control that. So here we have two Strangelings who are contenders for very powerful top tier magicians in the game. As you can see, their stats are incredibly different. Yuelia appears to have around 50% more of each stat, though the magic attack is a bit off from that estimate, and SP doesn't seem to get boosted at all. Boosted? What do I mean boosted? Well, Yuelia comes at max Soup, I call it. She has been eating plenty of her Soups. Five cans to be exact. When you befriend Yuelia, she's powered up to the max.
24:07But the only way to power up your other Strangelings is. Let's just say it's not possible. It's a bonus for playing hundreds of hours of the game, randomly acquired. And it's so unattainable, so inconsistent that we're simply not going to discuss it in this video. Oh, by the way, I have two on Laura, who's like one of my top picks for combat. So that's, kind of hypocritical for me to say. So we have one for Grantz, one for Sloane, one for Allan, one for Sylvia. And that's after 250 hours of play. So yeah, we're going to basically act like power ups don't exist and can't be obtained by any sane people. Because if I do anything else, then everybody
24:47Looking to this video for advice will be very confused and helpless when I tell them that you got to power up all your Strangelings because you don't, it's not necessary. Don't do that. But my point is. The moment you befriend Yuelia in the story, she comes at Max power up because she's literally a goddess. So after 999 hours in this game, your other Strangelings will have stats on par with Yuelia because they'll all be at max power up. But until then, Yuelia has a massive, accessible edge. Let's take a look at her skills, her special, which she spams all the time. I don't know if power ups make the
25:27Special cooldown lower or what, but she uses it a ton. Makes an enormous meteor shower. It's beautiful and her skill Divine Child has her always deal plus 10% damage to dark type enemies. Even if she's using a raw, elementless weapon for a higher base attack. You never know what could come in future DLC, but of course, her best setup is going to be a light magic staff with plus 30% light damage on it. If you really want to age something for her. Dude, she's you Yuelia. Treat her specially. Unfortunately, her last skill is pretty wasted. A meager 10% item drop rate up. When we did a video about plus 500%.
26:07That only makes up half the difference from lacking a Paladin shield with item drop rate up and bonus defense. So honestly, I wish she had a different skill. It's pretty useless. But hey, she gets bonus damage against dark type enemies. Not as much as we prefer, but 10% is nice. In addition to her massive powered up base stats, including way higher 50% bonus HP due to the power ups causing her to have as much HP as a Paladin would when she's a fragile little mage. But putting aside base stats for a moment. Especially because Yuelia is unlocked after you clear the story. Let's cover Damien,
26:47Another character from Fantasy Life 1. I mean Daemon, another character from Fantasy Life i. But also they talk a lot about the history of the 3DS game. Don't ask what his name was in that. LEVEL5's never been known for their localization quality. In fact, if you look at the advertisements, this game's not known for the advertising quality either. So ahem Daemon is another flat damage boost character. He gets plus 40 flat Dark damage, which is so stupid because he should be busted. He should be the strongest character in the game. I freaking love this guy. He's got a great character. He's got a great story. He's got a great dad. He's got a great area with great aesthetics. It even has the book
27:27That resets your stats, you can't even allocate your stats in this game, dude. Oh my god. Okay, so, he deserved better. Putting that aside, Damian or Daemon, whatever you wish to call him is voiced by other Arararagi himself AKA Haizaki from Inazuma Eleven Ares so he's automatically top tier. You can't dispute this. There's nothing else you can say to change my mind. And he's literally the best character in the entire game. Putting that aside, he kind of sucks and I wish that his skills were different. he can especially go on the team because Don Woolie is weak to Dark element. So hey, any excuse is a good excuse. But speaking of mages. Because we have been
28:08Speaking of them for a while. Let's talk about my boy Colin, who is literally one of the most cracked down units in the entire game. I cannot believe that they made a character like this. Why is Daemon so weak when Colin exists? you know how Rouge's final passive is wasted and contributes no damage to her kit? Well, what if I told you that Colin can spam Paralysis with a Wind Element Special move while having a passive ability that boosts all Wind Element damage by 30%? And he Paralyzes with the crazy lightning strike from above.
28:48Colin is literally one of the best characters in the entire game. He's crazy good. And having another character with paralysis that's a ranged fighter and can just randomly drop paralyzing lightning strikes from the sky is such a good complement to Rouge's melee fighting, because they're going to be at different locations, and they're hopefully not going to get wiped out by the same attack. Look at that. Another lightning strike coming in. I don't know how they determine, like when the special charges, but sometimes characters just absolutely spam the crap out of it. There are a lot of fantastic ranged attackers in this game, so if you want to play Paladin and just, like, block everything with your shield. You don't have to do that.
29:28But it would be funny because you wouldn't really have to do anything else. it's like Elden Ring where you summon a bunch of ghosts and then you use your shield. Okay, I never did that. I played Elden Ring without summoning anything, BUT. Despite having amazing paralysis and plus 30% wind damage, Colin is not Hazel. Which is a problem because Hazel has +10% crit rate as her other passive instead of just +30 magic damage. This doubles the base critical hit rate, making Hazel deal tons of critical hits even when you don't have Crit Aid applied. Additionally, she is the character with plus 30%
30:08Fire damage as her passive, making Hazel essential for enemies weak to fire, which these Sandlizards aren't because they're clearly fire elements. Someone's going to comment that. that's her amazing Mega Explosion Quiz Move. It's got the craziest animation. It's like PlayStation buttons everywhere. Astro Bot move and it deals a bunch of damage. I-- it really just has a bunch of damage. That's the entire attack. It doesn't miss that often because she does it right around her. It just it's an explosion radiating from her center. She spams it. It deals plenty of damage. And that's literally her entire character. Plus 30% fire damage, plus 10% crit rate.
30:49And an enormous explosion that she constantly spams with super high accuracy because it spawns right on top of her. Leilah, voiced by Inori Minase who voices Itsuki in Quintuplets. Is not only a fantastic voice, but also a fantastic fighter. She's got lots 30% earth damage. And guess who's weak to Earth? The legendary Don Woolie himself. This means Leilah is more than just a powerful fighter with a plus 30% elemental damage boost. she has a boost to the element that the strongest boss currently in the game is weak
31:29To: Legendary Don Woolie can spawn up to level 100. He's way stronger than he sounds, and if you beat him at level 100, you can get three horn drops instead of the regular 1 or 2. Being able to efficiently farm him is not impossible, but a point that's extremely difficult to get to in this game. And using the right Strangelings is something that's required, because farming Don Woolie solo is what you gotta do. I did a whole separate video about that. What's the spawn here? Guys, guys, guys, how did this happen? How did this happen? While I'm recording the Strangeling Tier List video randomly, I didn't. I swear,
32:09You can't control this. The level 100 Don Woolie spawned rank seven. Check it out. Let's go. Let's do it. We will showcase in the video my number one efficient bestest Don Woolie slaying squad Our guys are dying. It's fine. You can use the magical menu like breath of the wild. Any time. Give your guys some soup. Here's a mega tip you can stock up on Life Curse from Marco, and if you use them from the menu, you can literally revive your party. What? You don't need to walk up to them and do God's Touch. Actually, crazy. They're shredding him. He's both frostbitten and burned, so he's moving super slow. Look at how slow he's attacking. Zoom, Dodge in there
32:49And then attack. And you finally have a chance to hit him. He attacks so fast. Normally, the only way to really get some damage in is to wait for snow to frostbite him. Hey, at least with stick. There you go. Get in there. Kill him! Get him! Die! Boom! Six drops, three horns, three meats. We did it! That was super easy. Only took a couple minutes. And if things start going poorly, you can always use the menu to heal everybody instantly. It's super easy to level up using the monster house exploit. I did a tutorial on that like a month ago. It works for all level 100 combat lives. Hey, we found the adorable eyepatch recipe randomly stocked by The Don. This is how
33:29You craft your own eyepatch. If you wanted to make extras So now that we've showcased how powerful that party is, you can see that Fern and Snow deal plenty of damage, but they also play a major support role. While Leilah sits back and fires off massive Earth element shots with +30% bonus damage To really keep up the DPS. He's also weak to dark element and the dark element Weapons that are in the game right now have a bit higher base attack than the Earth ones, so Fern and snow are equipped with dark element weapons, and they put in major DPS that way as well. It's a fantastic team overall and it's my number one, Don Woolie slaying team.
34:09...I have a Dragon Stick! Glen is such a unique character, and you get him automatically in the story. He deals plus 10% damage to all boss enemies. Any character with a crown, whether it's silver or gold. This makes him a good choice in basically any major combat situation. It applies to all of his attacks, no matter what. And in addition to this damage bonus. He deals plus 30% damage with his special. You can customize him. The thing that makes Glen so good compared to many other fighters is you can use him with any element, whether it's a raw
34:49Damage weapon or an element that the enemy is weak to. Glenn always gets his maximum damage buff of 10% against all bosses and plus 30% on his special. He's quite versatile, so if you aren't sure who to put your experience into yet, he's going to be a great choice. Plus, he's just a classic character who's super epic looking. Look at that. Come on. Go get him, Glen. Wind element is stacked. Because in addition to Colin, we also have Hawke. Hawke’s got a plus 20% critical hit rate as his first passive, which is already quite appealing. But get this,
35:29His special skill, is wind element. And his second passive skill is +30% wind damage. It's the same exact skill that Colin has, and wind is the only element in the entire game to double up on 30% bonus skills. This means that any enemy in the game that's weak to wind is crumbling with a team that uses both Hawke and Colin. Now just make sure to max out their affinity to unlock all of these skills. Go, Hawke. Go! paralyzed hawke. Save me. Use your special. Go go go go go! Crazy. Hang on! His special
36:09Is literally the same, animation as Fern's, isn't it? His special is just kind of lame. Unfortunately, Hawk does not supply any utility with his special move. So even if his damage per second will be higher with a much larger base crit rate, I am going to say that Colin is better if we're comparing them against each other. But usually but usually you'll want to use both Colin and Hawke on the same team because elemental weakness matters a lot in this game. I just realized I've covered every single combat Strangling so far. Except for one. The final Strangeling is one very easy to acquire: Laura!
36:50From the original Fantasy Life finally gets to have the adventure she's yearned for, and it turns out she was not just all talk. Laura has got the best skill set in the entire game right now. Her special is light element. And it's some crazy Elden Ring stuff where she jumps up into the air and aims it from above, so she always hits almost. If you like flat damage boosts, she's got plus 30, which is almost as much as the plus 40. Most other characters get under certain conditions, but Laura's Plus 30 is always active. And if you need more damage,
37:30She's got it. Her other passive is a percent-based damage boost, but it's not one of those weak 10% ones like Cliff's got. Cliff gets plus 40 flat damage when equipping water weapons. And he gets plus 10% damage, but only against fire type enemies. So both of these are conditional skills. Meanwhile, Laura always gets plus 30 flat damage and she always gets plus 30% light element damage. Even if you're using a different element weapon, her special will still be light element and get that boost.
38:10But that's not all. You can naturally equip a light element weapon on to Laura so that her normal attacks get the 30% damage boost as well. But unlike wind, fire, earth and water element weapons, light and dark element weapons are unique because in terms of the weapons available in the game right now. Light element weapons have higher base attack. This means that if you're boosting any element at all, you really prefer it to be light or dark because your element of your attack is determined by your weapon. In this game,
38:50And light and dark are tied for the strongest element weapons. It's kind of complicated. But the end conclusion is asking where the 30% Dark Elemental damage skill is. It really feels like Daemon should have had it, but it turns out it's not in the game. This guy's got an awesome, unique idle stance, and yet he's got a crappy flat damage boost with nothing else. I wonder if DLC will add bonus skills for our Strangelings or a Noelia strangeling with +30% dark elemental damage. For now, Laura is entirely uncontested. She has the perfect
39:30Skill set and nobody else has it in this game. They could, but they don't. Cliff gets close, but then they purposefully make him worse with a conditional percent 10% damage boost. Why would you do this? Additionally, Laura is voiced by Aoi Yuuki, beloved LEVEL5 voice actress who played Kinako from Inazuma Eleven Go Chrono Stones. Inaho in Yo-kai Watch 3 And Natsume, Keita's daughter in Yo-kai Watch 4. It does not stop there. The reasons why Laura is absolute top tier
40:10Keep piling up. The best experience grinding method in this game is defeating shadow enemies in the monster houses. As I outlined in my combat XP tutorial video. Additionally, mysterious slates are exclusively dropped by shadow enemies and they are of course, as their name suggests, dark type. So whether you're looking to farm end game items or experience, shadow monsters are your main source of resources and their weakness is naturally light. Let's check out Laura's epic special move as she comes to our rescue here and defeats the
40:50Shadow enemies. Boom! 1300 damage in a single slice. Check that out. Boom! We're gonna pit her against the shadow boss and see how great she does. go, go, go Laura go, Elden Ring Move! Got em! All right, Laura, to prove your strength, you will defeat the level 90 Shadow Tortoise. And see just how much damage she can deal. Go, Laura. Go. You have so many buffs. Get him, get him, get him! 4000 damage with a single sword slash. Go! Get him, get him! Special. Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa. How many hits of 4000
41:30Was that? What a crazy special. She dealt like 16,000. 20,000 damage there. what? Look at her clobber him! Go go go get him! One of her buffs ran out, but she still destroyed him. Holy crap! Power ups matter a heck of a lot in this game. And pretty much the only one who will have power ups available is Yuelia. So let's see how she does. See, here's the thing about mages, okay? The. Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa. Crazy. Okay, so the projectile that mages make disappears after hitting one target, so they can't really deal with crowds in the same way that swordsmen can. Paladin such
42:10As Laura can deal with crowds because their swords slmash multiple enemies at once. Meanwhile, the projectiles that mages sling disappear when they hit their target. Just from that, I'd say Laura is better When using a team for elemental advantage. If you have two Strangelings that really fit the bill like Yuelia plus Laura for Light or Colin plus Hawke for wind, You can use Snow as your third party member and your damage will be perfect. Okay, now she's buffed up. Dealing over 2000 damage per shot. Holy crap. She is not positioning herself well. Whoa whoa whoa. Go go go go. Big damage, big damage from the special. But despite her Soup
42:50Up, Laura dealt out more damage with her special. Laura's Special dealt insane damage. I really think Lara comes out on top there. So now that we've gone over and reviewed every single combat, strangely in the game, how are we ranking them? Snow is absolutely Z tier, the highest tier indisputably good in any battle, contributing damage and utility and cuteness. Snow covers it all. Laura is the highest damage character in the entire game. Flat Damage boost 30%. Element boost. An extremely high
43:30Damage special. And her main element is light. Making her the only Strangling to truly focus on an Element With a Top Tier Weapon. I personally think that mages are just worse in this game. They can only hit one target at a time and the AI Is not that good. But putting those two complaints aside, Colin is basically the mage version of Laura. He's got plus 30 flat magic damage boost and plus 30% element damage boost. But both of these boosts are on Wind, making Colin
44:10Focus on an element with a lower tier of weapons. The wind element weapons available in the game right now just have lower attack compared to the light and dark ones. That's just how it is. We need to wait for them to add stronger recipes. But the game's always going to be changing with updates. And for me, a tier list needs to keep that sort of thing in mind. A large, wide world view is important for a tier list. Colin makes up for the marginal difference in damage. By zapping opponents with lightning from the heavens that paralyzes them. This elevates Colin from the top of S rank all the way up to Z rank.
44:50His available weapon may be weaker than we'd prefer, but that's perfectly fine. The difference isn't that huge, and his paralysis is extremely useful. Just keep in mind, Elemental affinity matters more than anything else. Don't bother stacking light damage against King Woolie or he's just going to resist it. With all of his bonuses, Colin is still only in third place as snow ultimately takes the lead. Here's the reason snow can use any element weapon that she wants. For whatever reason, the base damage of her special is ridiculously high. She doesn't
45:30Really need any percent boost. She's totally fine. the real secret behind her huge damage may be the fact that she actually inflicts frostbite with all of her attacks. Her special has massive frostbite build up, so when you trigger it, boom. Snow contributes incredibly unique utility with the unbelievably useful frostbite status condition slowing enemies to a crawl so you can weave more attacks in between theirs and dodge out of the way before it's too late. None of our combat lives have access to frostbite. So using snow to inflict it is really the only way. Snow, I'm thinking it's time
46:10For you to demolish this shadow tortoise. She got him big frostbite. Laura has the highest damage output in the game. She's a physical fighter. Her element of choice has the highest Damage Tier weapon. And light element specifically is used for the fastest level 100 endgame Grind for any Combat Life: The Monster House Exploit. Snow is huge damage and unique utility you can't get anywhere else bundled into one adorable character who you got to use on every team. Now, I'm not saying Colin goes on the same team as these other two characters, because elemental affinity is what
46:50Really matters. But Colin's damage and utility are both enormous, with Paralysis on his special and the combination of flat and 30% bonus damage. These are my top three combat Strangelings and Z tier that everyone else will be compared to. Colin's main downside? Is that mage simply isn't that great to have on your party compared to Paladin or mercenary, because mages can only attack one target at a time, But Colin's kit is so ideal. with that paralysis sprinkled on top that he stands firm
47:31At the bottom of the highest tier. Now, our next Tier is for Strangeling characters that are undeniably fantastic. Incredible. It's just that their kits aren't perfect. You only get a few skills in this game, at least until the DLC hits. Notice that empty slot every Strangeling has at the bottom of their skill list, so I'm sure things will change. But until then, these Strangelings got the short end of the Excalibranch. Leilah... Oh, Leilah how could they do this to you? You've got Earth element Which the legendary Don Woolie is weak to.
48:11He is the most tedious end game farm. He's the boss, which requires the most kills total in the game for crafting. And you can farm his materials the fastest if you specifically kill him at level 100. So with her plus 30% Earth elemental damage, boost. Leilah is firmly at the top of our second tier for combat Strangelings. But what? Why would they give plus 10% natural SP recovery? Why would she need that? What does that even do? What do you mean natural SP recovery? Who relies on that? In this day and age, we have cell phones.
48:51NPCs never run out of SP anyways. She does not need that. It does nothing. It's a waste of a skill. And that summarizes a lot of these Strangelings that we aren't putting in Z tier, but SSS rank is a good rank to have. Because it still means you're ridiculously powerful in any scenario. And that's why Rouge is also going in this top tier. Her special gives paralysis to enemies, and any allies caught inside are strengthened instead. This buff can stack with other Strangeling buffs, as we tested earlier, and the paralysis build up naturally stacks
49:31With Colin’s as well. If you're looking to fight an enemy with no particular elemental weakness, the team I'd recommend is Colin Rouge and Snow. You'll get double paralysis stacking on the enemy. So even though it's more difficult to apply each time your double paralysis teammates will be working together to debilitate the enemy faster than you can kill it. Colin's damage is so high and he's got the utility on top of it. And that's just where Fern falls short. Her main bonus is being able to apply Burn easily with her attacks and special. But where she falls short is her flat damage buff of 40
50:12That only triggers when using another hunter. This will definitely trigger when fighting the legendary Don Woolie because Leilah is going to be on your team, but even then, it's not that much of a boost. I do appreciate it. It's good. It's better than nothing. And the burn status condition decreases the defense and magic defense of the inflicted enemy, increasing damage for all party members, including Fern herself. But it's conditional. It's flat and combined. Those are the two types of skills that I don't like in Fantasy Life i on Strangelings. So Rouge and Fern are SSS-Tier supports. But what about
50:52Damage? Hazel has maximum damage on the fire element with bonus crit rate and the 30% fire elemental damage boost that Fern needed to be on top. Hazel minimizes the weakness of mages with her local explosion special move that always seems to hit the mark. Her damage is huge, but only for her appropriate element. So I'm not saying that Leilah or Hazel is better than the other. Even if Hazel’s damage output is technically going to be higher thanks to that bonus crit rate. The real point here is to watch out for elements. But facing off
51:32Against each other, Hazel is better than Leilah. Meanwhile, Fern is the best support character if you don't want to use a paralysis unit, paralyze can get in the way of advanced techniques But this isn't relevant for every boss. There are plenty of difficult bosses that you get nothing out of by timing the paralysis for anything outside of “as soon as possible” and “as many times as possible”. So for all those fights. Colin's damage boost and paralysis Can outweigh Fern simple utility through her burn. Meanwhile, Rouge just gets screwed over with her passive skill I got this, she deals
52:12More physical damage when you're running less combat lives in your party, which is funny, but something you may not know is that the gathering and crafting life AI is purposefully worse in combat for some stupid reason. They're not good at dodging. They always get hit, and they're simply not as competent at fighting. put aside for a moment that the gathering and crafting lives don't have special moves to spam during combat. They're just always going to be getting hit and dying. Meanwhile, it's nice that she can get a damage boost when her health is below 50%, but really, that's when you should be spamming heals on her because she's going to die in two seconds.
52:52The AI is not good at surviving and mercenaries especially are terrible at it. So Rouge as a whole is carried entirely by her overpowered special move, which has both a buff for her allies and paralysis for enemies. On the same special. She's still amazing. I just like Fern a bit more. Rouge is cuter though. So that means she's.... that-- she goes up a tier. Next, we have characters who are powerful but ultimately out scaled by others. Hawke is a top tier damage dealer he's got a plus 20% crit rate buff that'll have him dealing plenty of damage when you combine it with his plus 30% Wind Elemental
53:32Boost. Wind being the strongest element overall. Is really interesting, So I hope a boss with a wind weakness drops in the DLC. Because legendary Don Woolie resists it. So Hawke is a top tier damage dealer for an element that just doesn't really matter. And unlike Colin he doesn't have a funny spam status move. No status, no top tier. Sorry buddy. No status makes his special move a straight up worse version of Fern’s until you consider the elemental damage boost. Hawke is super powerful. He's a top tier damage dealer and combatant overall,
54:12But he's just kind of boring and he's bench warming for the moment. Your time will come, Hawke. Eventually. Get warmed up, buddy. Right below Hawke, we have Glenn, who is honestly fantastic as a character. He deals big damage to all bosses thanks to that universal Plus 10% damage increase. And considering how much damage comes from the special skills that strange lings use a plus 30% boost to his special combined with a constant plus 10% boost that's even active on his normal attacks. Makes him a top tier damage dealer against bosses
54:53And bosses are basically the only relevant fights in this game. But Glenn has zero utility. As does the mercenary class itself. He mainly gets in there and dies. Combine that with specialized damage dealers like Laura ultimately out scaling him. Hawke is at the bottom of the top tier of damage dealers, while Glenn is at the top of our next tier. The high mid tier known as A-Rank. So who's next after that? Naturally, it's Yuelia. Again: We are not counting power ups when making this tier list, because a tier list should keep absolutely everything in mind,
55:33Which includes the possibility of people reaching the end of the game and having max power up on all of their Strangelings. because once you got the power ups, Yuelia loses her main bragging point. Her 10% item drop rate is basically useless. If you've seen my video on how to do a good drop rate set. And her other passive is simply plus 10% damage against dark enemies. She's adorable. She's nostalgic. She's one of my favorite characters in the entire game. Absolutely. I just wish that she was a little more powerful. Similar to Yuelia, we have Cliff, whose passive is plus 10% damage against fire type enemies
56:13With a water type skill. But unlike Yuelia, Cliff actually gets bonus damage from his final passive with a plus 40 flat magic damage increase when using a water element weapon. The only reason this doesn't put Cliff above Yulia in the tier list is because Yuelia is specifically effective against dark type enemies. Dark type enemies are the ones that drop mysterious slates. So no matter what, having a bit of extra item drop rate is always going to be welcome because not everybody is constantly equipping their gear in this game. I get it, I don't do it either. Sometimes I just
56:53Head into fights with my guys completely naked. But again, Yuelia and Cliff are quite similar units. They're just specializing in different elements. similarly to Pokemon, you can use whatever you like. Next we have A-Rank. Strangelings. Strangelings who could have been amazing could have been fantastic, but instead are only just great. Leading the pack is Fang. Who gains massive bonus stats and duration from any cooking that you give him, plus 30% to be exact the most accessible endgame stews are plus 150 in each stat, so you get about plus 50 flat defense, magic
57:33Defense attack and magic defense on Fang along with increased duration of the stew. When you feed it to him, it's a fantastic passive overall. Additionally, Fang gets plus 30% crit rate, not 20, not ten plus 30%, making him a firm leader of the A rank. If you need Earth element attackers, he's going to be great and he's going to be tankier than your average mercenary thanks to that stew bonus. Below him potentially supporting him is Hilda, who gets the same exact 30% cooking bonus, except she's a healer. And just like attackers like to spam their attack, special healers kind of like to spam their healing
58:13Special when they feel like it. Don't avoid healing yourself in hopes that the AI will heal you. Instead, treat the AI heal as a bonus. Just in case you're in trouble. It can randomly happen and save you. You should view it as something like that instead. And finally, at the bottom of this Tier is Jerry. Who's got an excellent plus 30% crit rate. And he's got that fantastic expandable healing skill that Hilda has. He's just really ugly. So he goes below Hilda even though he has bonus crit rate. Sorry. But since this seems to be the healer tier, let's make sure to put Sloane at the top of that for one specific reason.
58:53He's not just a healer. He gets a flat 40 damage boost when using an Earth weapon, which is pretty nice. But the real reason he's good is that his heal also gives up power up. It's like Rouge's buff. Sloan is a fantastic healer because he boosts the party's damage. Making your DPS loss not as big as it otherwise would be. When using a character like Hilda. Next is B rank. Strangelings that I simply wish were better. They could have been good, but in my opinion they just really aren't. This is when Strangelings start to become irredeemable.
59:33At the top of the tier. Because I love his voice actor is Daemon whose first passive is just terrible. A flat maximum SP boost of 30. What the heck are you doing LEVEL5 why? That's so irrelevant! That makes no sense. That gets out scaled so quickly. And then his second base of boost is only a 40 flat damage boost when equipping Dark weapons, so he's technically there for when you need dark element Strangeling allies, but the total lack of a 30% dark element boost in this base game for Fantasy Live i is majorly suspicious to me. Then we have Mustang, who's honestly
60:13Not a terrible character. His ability to be targeted by enemies more definitely works. And his flat defense boost of 40 when another Paladin is in the party is kind of nice, I guess, but his special being a simple fire attack has zero synergy with the rest of his kit, and it doesn't provide any utility for the team. More often than not, allies getting targeted more frequently are allies that you'll need to be healing more frequently. So Mustang is another character with plenty of wasted potential. At the bottom of the tier lies Olivia. She technically gets a plus 30% damage boost
60:53On her special skill, which is nice until you realize it's wind. Any situation where Olivia could be useful Colin and Hawke have the objectively more useful, +30% wind elemental damage, which applies to their special attacks and all normal attacks. If they're equipped with a wind element weapon. Olivia gets majorly cheesed here when you combine it with her other passive skill, which is literally plus 5% dosh. Are you kidding me? Enemies barely drop any dosh as it is. That's such a tiny buff. They were not cooking with this Olivia is total wasted potential. If you want to shred
61:33Enemies that are weak to wind, use snow to debilitate them while piling on the damage. With Colin and Hawke. And finally. At the bottom of the barrel we have the D-tier of Strangelings. Strangelings that simply do not work. At the top of the tier is Odin, who's almost good. His taunt ability actually does make enemies target him more, which is impressive, and his special skill actually does boost attack in defense of nearby allies. But when I say nearby, oh boy, I mean nearby. Rouge also buffs nearby allies, but it's a fairly large field and the field lasts
62:13For a couple seconds. You can dive into it and get the buff after she uses it for Odin, even if the particle for the field is still up. If you aren't literally standing on top of him the moment that uses his special, you will not get the buff. He's supposed to be a tank. He's supposed to take aggro away from you, but you only get his buff if you stand on top of him You're going to take damage trying to get his tiny buff. He does not function. His skills are at odds with themselves, Even if they're good on paper. I wanted to like Odin, but I don't, especially because his flat defense boost that rewards you for using Daemon in your party makes no sense when Daemon himself is so bad.
62:53And finally, all the way at the total bottom is Jake mirroring Snow at the top. Jake’s Skill to boost his chance to boost his chance of inflicting frostbite is currently not functional. Jake has zero base chance of inflicting frostbite with his normal attacks, and zero base chance of inflicting frostbite with his special. No matter how much I try, I cannot get him to frostbite, an enemy. The only way to even get the skill to activate would be to repeatedly age a weapon in the hardest tier of treasure groves, to try and get an inflicts frostbite skill just to see Jake randomly inflict frostbite
63:33Once in a blue moon, why not use snow? Snow is adorable. She's an idol. Come on. Jake is trash. She's unusable. He's absolute garbage. Worse than any other character in the game. Because even though Odin barely functions, at least you get the buff when you stand on top of him the moment he activates the field. Jake literally just doesn't paralyze. So there he goes, straight to the bottom. However, you could easily do a team of Jake and Odin and demolish any enemy in the game. For real. You could. This game is balanced so anybody can clear it doing anything they want. So this list is some serious discussion about casual business.
64:13Don't use it to bully people and play your own way. That's the highest tier of playing. Having fun.
